Yes, it is from the books that he is of Scottish descent. Thomas is from Yorkshire, but had an uncle he visited that lived in the Highlands of Scotland (hence his idea of the Hell Hounds of the Highlands). Okay, he does say Sir Arthur Conan Doyle the first time he addresses him. That's a mistake, but I believe that's the only time it's used because I've listened for it before when watching those eps.

Two more photos, the first one is of filming the ep with Pendrick that will involve a motion picture he's working on. That's Pendrick next to George, in a constable's uniform! The actor's real life wife is on the left. She played Minerva Fairchild in Still Waters in S1, but is apparently a character named Charlotte in this episode.

so if you look at it its of gaelic origin
with been of irish blood myself who's great grandmother had the surname murdoch and from donegal which was a part of connacht before it was a part of ulster from the 17th century
its seems the 2nd root of the name is more to my liking

and i just think it was nice for you to know the roots of the name murdoch or muireach in the irish

Here's an interesting little story regarding Thomas Alva Edison, and the motion-picture industry...

Thomas Edison and the Patents Trust put a death grip on the motion picture industry around 1908. They called themselves “The Motion Picture Patents Company”.

Their basic premise was that they had the patent on motion picture film and the mechanical movement inside movie cameras that transported the film. No movie could be made without their approval and they didn’t approve of movies made by anyone outside “The Trust”. They even had “Enforcers” that would go to the set of films in production and destroy the camera right there. They sued everyone that tried to make an independent film. They also made it so no movie was to be made with screen credits. No credits for actors, directors or crew. Credits were to be for the production companies only.

Yes, he will be playing William. And Charlotte Sullivan (who played Minerva Fairchild in Still Waters) will be playing Julia in Pendrick's moving picture of stationhouse 4. She is Peter Stebbings (Pendrick) wife in real life, too.

If we take into account the age Susannah revealed he was in s4, assuming there's a season per year in mm time, he should be 40 or turning 40 years of age in s7.
