LOL - okay, all you have to know is it's a weird Euclidean-geometry-defying shape that science fiction authors like to reference for interdimensional space travel, wormhole travel, and/or time travel. I've never heard of it and I've read a fair amount of sci-fi... Your eyes might have been glazing over the gobbledygook, or you might have been leaning more toward the fantasy genre? Anyway, this is a handy term to know if you want to get all twisty with space and time and explain why people and/or spaceships defied the laws of known physics. It also might explain the House of Eternal Return in MM. Peter Mitchell thought period drama was LIKE science fiction....maybe it IS science fiction! *cue twilight zone theme*

Perhaps they just used different terms to describe this? That would make the most sense to me.

I've only seen it used in science fiction of the last decade or so where authors are trying to figure out how time travel might work now that a lot of the traditional explanations have been quashed by mean-spirited physicists. It's used in Wilson's The Chronoliths and I believe in any of MacDonald's works that refer to quantum computing, and what's his face that wrote Flash Forward might have used it, too.

Well that explains it then...I haven't read much recent sci-fi

Interesting theory from Stephen Hawking is that the mass UFO sightings is not aliens but us from the future. Quantum physics he says is the next evolution of mankind. H G Wells foresaw a future where a time machine could travel into the future, but Hawkins insists that will never be possible as you cannot travel into a time that has not happened. But, it will come that we could visit the past.

Maybe I'm just remembering wrong or maybe he's changed his mind since then. I've also seen a study that shows that the majority of UFO sightings in America mostly coincide with happy hour. Edit: well I just briefly looked this up and he says going to the past is impossible but going to the future might be plausible...

Interesting theory from Stephen Hawking is that the mass UFO sightings is not aliens but us from the future. For years I've speculated dust motes in the air could be carrying nanobots from the future because we would not be able to send back anything with mass - only information at the quantum level. I thought there might even be "webcams". The recent discovery of the Russian webcam hijacking op underscores that possibiliy - we all might be porn for the future. My housemate assures me civilization will collapse before we perfect that technology!

past is impossible but going to the future might be plausible... Wait, so then Hawkng is sayinhg we already invented time travel long ago in order to send the past ufo sightings "into the future".

I didn't know where to post this question so I thought I'd try this thread. I hope it's the correct one.
I haven't dipped into many spoilers for season 8 like I normally do, I am attempting to keep at least some of the storyline's at bay until we get to view them in the UK in January, but there is a burning question that I have to ask. Now that William and Julia are married, where are they staying/living? I assume that they are together ... somewhere. Haha

Oh the lucky so and so's!! For the record, Tesla lived at the Waldorf-Astoria at the time and was a regular at Delmonico's (honeymoon restaurant). Methinks I know where the writing team got this idea, lol...

Just went on Twitter and saw this tweet from Helene... Now does that mean the last scene of the ep was dramatic or just the last scene they filmed was? Tells us whether we may have another cliffhanger or not if we can make that distinction. Also the y'all is incorrect.

As resident Texan on this board, the correct spelling is indeed "y'all". (It's our catch phrase, dammit! But you're more than welcome to use it!) However, major points for even using it-I'm touched. However, it will indeed be intriguing to know if we have another cliffhanger, although we already know they don't film scenes in order as well. I'm awaiting more details most eagerly! Also, happy (American) Thanksgiving, y'all! No turkey for me-I'm taking advantage of the fact that it's not a holiday here in Japan and will avoid the crowds at my favorite restaurant and bar! Thankful, indeed!
