Julia told us herself in Shades of Grey...she "had no desire to marry the man". It was another case of Julia doing the running away and giving the fellow a chance to have any input. Or she's lying to herself about what happened to give herself some control over the situation even though a cad left her in the lurch.

LNM is one of my fav eps. It was cute, funny, nudging upon the fantastic and best of all...a bit pervy!! Thanks for the clip snacky. While the romantic bits should be the best, my favorite part of the episode is still when William claims he defies the hot weather because Propriety. Yep, that made me laugh too. I also chuckle at the bit in the clip when Julia says they could see a pleisiosaur from a mile away and William goes on about the ambient light from the moon...hahaha.

Semi-related: But does anyone else wonder what the deal was with Julia's college lover? Did he get her in the family way and promptly wash his hands of the matter? This might explain why she has had abandonment issues. I say had, because like many a psych student, she healed herself. She doesn't seem very healed to me. Or was she healed when she came back from Vienna...? She seems a little calmer and less high strung. She's secure in William's feelings for her and can now play assist William in getting over his issues.

Maybe part of this season's darker aspect is exploring some of Julia's background. I've speculated several times about her colossal failures in judgement and I would really like to get to the bottom of her fear.

This is a treasure trove of material for character development. It sounds like we're going to get some of William's childhood, I'm looking forward to also getting his logging camp days background.

There is a lot of room still for character development. Already with Brax's PTSD and William's subtle shift to jungle justice. Every single character is worthy of further exploration IMO. That's what makes for a great show.

If Julia stopped in Zurich it's possible she could have met Jung while he was working at a psychiatric hospital. However, he was still a student. Check out the title of his 1903 dissertation, though: On the Psychology and Pathology of So-Called Occult Phenomena. Perhaps Julia could have visited him with Ms. Pensell...? In writing this it seems a bit disconcerting that Julia is such a Woman of the World (or at least of Europe), and William is a Man of Just Toronto.

I'd like to understand their relationship better (and see Ruby approve of her new less-dowdy wardrobe).

Hence William's hesitance about feeling worthy of her or worrying about bringing her down a few notches in society. (I think she's done a fine job with that herself); however, you love who you love and they've both finally gotten the memo.

Then William can come back a polished Man of the World, too!
