I'm not sure if I'm doing this right i.e.writing in the correct place but I enjoy reading your well constructed thoughts nearly as much as the show. I'm not sure if I'm up to the same analytical capability but I really agree with those that have highlighted the lack of Julia and William interaction or any display of affection. The first show I watched was the penultimate episode of season 6, the one where Julia was arrested for murdering her estranged husband. I really enjoyed the chemistry between the two main actors and thought what a lovely relationship. Since then I've seen all episodes and thought the chemistry was fabulous up until they got married. Of course I do like other aspects of the show but for me the romance was the part that drew me in. I sincerely hope that returns in season 9 while I have yet to see any mention or photo of Julia in the finale snippets. I had not seen the main actor before so not really aware of his style, my favourites though are Julia and the inspector. I love seeing women portrayed as strong, independent, career oriented and with a brain but that doesn't mean they don't want romance and affection. I don't think William even looks at his wife when he talks to her let alone show affection. Although I obviously disagree with the inspectors views, he really plays his part well. Have I written too much, I do ramble!

Have I written too much, I do ramble! You have done well! And a lot of people will agree with you that the chemistry between Julia and William seems to be getting played down, much to our chagrin, because it adds so much to the show. Who says flirty banter has to stop with marriage? I heartily agree about Julia's strength and intelligence, coupled with grace, as William pointed out in The Devil Wears Whalebone. Ramble away!

Have I written too much, I do ramble! Welcome - and please feel free to throw in any thought you have! btw, you might have seen Yannick Bisson before. I had seen him in several roles before this one but didn't recognize him at all! He really transformed himself for this role. I think the original presentation of Julia as a strong-willed, independent career woman in late Victorian society, which was totally unexpected, also totally made the show. That gave something for people to think and talk about, and it was also a counterpoint to the fraught issue of "feminism" today. Hopefully MM holds on to that aspect as well!

Thankfully watching the show and reading the posts have increased my knowledge of your beautiful country! Sydney, Nova Scotia is very small.....I've actually been there, with a very good friend....from Sydney, Australia.....she took great delight in telling people she was from the "other Sydney".....she noted that all the principal street names were the same.....
Would love to visit your Sydney some time....

I should have also extended that invitation to the main cast, particularly Julia and William ( I'm sure Helene would know Sydney) and also put a qualification on the invite that it did not extend to Gillies or Pearce or similar types!!!
