Hello MM fans - I joined this forum maybe a month or two ago but never got around to introducing myself. Now with S9 filming begun and so much activity on social media I thought I would chime in.
Things to know - in the winter I am often home bound because of the weather and find all sorts of interesting UK shows to watch on Netflix, Hulu, etc. This winter, I was lead from Foyle's War to Midsomer Murders to - Murdoch Mysteries! So I've expanded my country base.
I am a fan of Edna and George. I like Emily actually, but I think she's too 'above' him and it wouldn't work. But after the finale, who knows what will end up becoming of the George and Edna romance.
I preferred Anna for William but am resigned to the marriage. I just find poor Julia so dull anymore
Things I ponder that I haven't seemed to find on this forum.
- Does Murdoch ever eat lunch during work? Brackenreid has his apples and his 'liquid lunch' and George is always wandering around with the newest foodstuffs, or eggs, or his lunchbox of bread and cheese.
- Will poor George ever be allowed to call his BFF Murdoch by his Christian name? And yes I realize it's a very formal structure and time, etc, etc. But even Spock called his captain Jim a few times in the original series!
- And so George can't call Murdoch William, but he can hug him in front of a dozen constables and an Inspector? Three different times? William so doesn't seem the Bro hug type.
That's enough for now, but you can see where my mind goes. If any of these topics are better as unique threads, I am glad to create one in an appropriate section.

I remember only a couple of scenes of the good detective eating at work, once he was munching on an apple (during the first season I think) and then he was lunching with his wife. Yes he hardly ever seems to eat, but then I guess that is not important to the plot most of the time! Besides, his character is the serious type, eating would mess with his concentration. It would be hard to imagine Brackenreid without his crystal glass, it is such an intrinsic part of his character. George certainly has featured food in the past, but not so much this season, as his character took on a more serious mood in general. Fun discussion! |

Hmm, maybe it's a Victorian/Edwardian, thing...? Sort of like how sons called fathers "sir" but still got hugs?  And welcome! |
