I'm intrigued by her German(?) accent. I think this is supposed to remind me of something, but I'm not sure what. At first I thought of the Nazis working on the V2 rocket, but I think there's some other association I should be making. But isn't her name Svetlana? She could be a German, but I think it's more likely she's Russian. Possibly early cold war and space race? There was a Jules Verne episode with the Russians trying to get a very early 19th century start on the Space Race. This seemed strange to me: would the Russians have been interested in this without the stimulation of competition from the US or Nazi Germany? On the other hand, I would buy Pendrick pursuing this.

I can't wait to see what is going on with the ladies leg! And this Steampunk! Pendrick is one of my favorite characters so this is going to be fun! I'm intrigued by her German(?) accent. At first I thought it was the lady who went underground (can't remember name). But the accent threw me for a loop. Too early for the V2 rocket we are headed toward WWI not WWII.

Also love the completely obvious reference to our very Canadian superhero, Superman. Superman is Canadian? Heck ya! A Canadian, Joe Shuster, co-created The Man Of Steel with American cartoonist Jerry Siegel. Superman was picked up by Action Comics in 1938 and that company was subsequently bought by DC Comics. Action heroes are a very American construct but we Canadians are very proud of our guy. The Canadian mint even has several commemorative Superman coins.

A talented family....Joe Shuster's brother Frank became half of one of Canada's most celebrated comedy duos, Wayne and Shuster....they were frequent CBC performers and were guests on Ed Sullivan a lot......
