I voted for Ruby, I watched the episode where they really connected last week and I really loved it Perhaps she goes to the Alice in Wonderland party with him?? Hmmm...

Yes, I was thinking they might go to the party together. Unless he brings Tess and then bumps into Ruby... I just got my DVDs of S1 and S2. I watched Power last night and he and Edna had such chemistry, too. Apparently the actors were friends before the episode.

Yes, I'm surprised that they haven't had her back after that first episode. I'd like for him to have a love interest however they decide to do it

Yes, it hadn't. I would guess some people voted for her in the "someone else" category.

This makes me sad, honestly. I think Emily was only invented because the actress who plays Ruby would not agree to become a regular character. I really think they had planned to have her take over Paddy Glynn's spot at the TO Gazette and have a romance with George.

You know somehow I never thought of that but that would make perfect sense! Oh well, you can't have everything. That's what the fanfics are for.

Hmm, so if Ruby had become a regular, would Julia have stayed in the morgue even though she didn't want to be there anymore or would she have been replaced by Emily anyways and there would have been a love triangle with George?

Possibly a love triangle with George if Julia had still left the morgue, yeah. But if Helene hadn't needed to scale back in S5 and Sarah Gadon had been available to make Ruby a regular, I don't think Emily would have been introduced at all. I think Ruby would have had the same function as Emily in terms of being another female involved in the cases and have functioned sort of the way Julia has been in S6 as a profiler. She would have inserted herself into the cases as often as she could a news reporter. That would have made George thrilled, but probably caused tension with William and Thomas because they would have seen Ruby as a nuisance/interloper.
