Was it on Ovation/local station or are you able to view the unadulterated episodes on the internet?

I stumbled across it on Netflix streaming and watched it on line on my PC, I have a 28" HD monitor, I have now completed watching the first 3 seasons, that is all that is currently available on Netflix, I'm going to check Amazon Prime to see if they carry later seasons. Otherwise I guess I will have to wait until Netflix add more. Where are you located and how have you watched the series, are you Canadian?

Sgt.Hodge are you aware of the Australian TV series "Miss.Fishers Murder Mysteries" It is similar in some ways to Murdoch Mysteries in that it is a period piece set in the early 1900's right after WW I, There are currently 2 seasons available on Netflix with a 3rd on the way. I enjoyed it. I am currently watching "Broadchurch" a English murder mystery, current day setting, in a costal small town on the east coast of England, 13 episode, 4 into it, quite good so far.

Lou You can get (I believe) later seasons on disc on Netflix if you have the disc option. Otherwise, if you don't mind subscribing to another service for a few dollars a month, Acorn TV has all of the seasons of MM as well as lots of other mysteries if you like that sort of thing. I'm also watching MFMM, and while hubby and I enjoy it (stylistically gorgeous), I'm not obsessed with it as much as I am Murdoch. However, Det. Inspector Robinson is nice on the eyes as well. Delicious UST between him and Phryne. I watch all of the eps on Acorn, for the record. I think the first month was free.

Lou Glad to hear you've seen the unedited version, you miss so much because of the stupid way it's edited. I see Fallenbelle has given you options for the rest of the seasons. Acorn is the company that puts out the DVD's so I think they'd be a good option. Yes I'm Canadian (via England some 33 years ago). Even here we get some seasons edited by CBC, S1 & 5 to be precise. They bought the rights for those two seasons from CityTV, the original channel it was on. The later seasons that were made for CBC are shorter. We still get to see the earlier seasons on CityTV but at hours I don't watch. CBC airs an older episode every weeknight and a new episode every Monday. I only found MM in Dec of '13 and that was because a certain Pug was going to be in an ep so I figured I'd see what this programme was. I loved it from the start and have been hooked (obsessed ) ever since. I have the first four seasons on DVD and all eps as digital downloads. Eventually I'll get them all on DVD for the computer and maybe even get Bluray as well for TV at some point. I know I don't really need both but I prefer Bluray for TV and I'm THAT obsessed.... I've never seen Miss Fisher, for some reason it's never appealed to me. I stopped watching police/PI shows a couple of years ago. There were far too many of them and there's only so much you can do before they're all the same so I gave up on most of them. MM is a refreshing change though I do like the occasional British show. I don't really watch much TV any more, even though it's usually on, just MM really and the odd other show.

Lou Lou - I'm American (California), and I have been tracking the progress of the syndicated version of Murdoch Mysteries. Is it on a TV channel in your area? They may be terribly butchered, but please watch on TV for moral support, and also let people know if you find it on TV. You can check the online TV Guide listings for your local listings: www.tvguide.com/Listings/In my area the local channels have just started Season 2. There is a thread in the General section where you can comment on what was cut out of the syndicated version.

I've never seen Miss Fisher, for some reason it's never appealed to me. I've seen Miss Fisher a couple times, but it hasn't hooked me yet. I find it closer in style and pacing to the British mysteries you would find on PBS (though Phrynne as a character is very appealing!). Murdoch Mysteries has a style of its own, but it's closer in pacing to an American show, so I would lump it in more the sort of quirky shows you would find on the Sci Fi channel. Except it isn't Sci Fi. Just quirky.

I happen to like some of the British mysteries but they tend to be the ones that aren't on until the early hours, DCI Banks comes to mind for that. He's quite a quirky character. Not sure why Miss Fisher has never appealed, if I see it advertised maybe I'll see about taking in an ep and give it a try.

You might like it better because of your British origins. There's just some quality about these shows that's hard for me to pinpoint, but it gives them a different "feel" from American shows. Miss Fisher had the British "feel" the last time I viewed it.

Miss Fisher had the British "feel" the last time I viewed it. It's the characters that pull me in for MFMM. The mysteries come and go (as they do on Murdoch) but the central characters of Cec, Bert, Dot, Hugh, Mr. B., Mac ( a lesbian lady doctor who dresses like a man-ooh, la la!), Detective Inspector Jack Robinson, and of course the fabulous Phryne ( who is the epitome of 20's flapper) and the various boy toys she beds are all good fun. Whereas the UST between William and Julia was a very slow burn, it's white hot between Phryne and Jack. But, still UST because he's not interested in being another notch on her bedpost, and has considerable feelings for her-much to his chagrin. She's taken with him, but she's not the marrying kind, so... They're a stark contrast to the younger yet more traditional Dot and Hugh, who were too young for the war, and don't have the scars/baggage that Jack and Phryne do. Randomkiwibirds, did I miss anything?
