Yeah!!!
Does anybody know if being on CBC means 13 episodes as previously, or something more or less?

Because of the erratic scheduling of MM on CityTV, at least on my cable service, I've only seen a few episodes, three I think, of season four. I thought the season finale was brilliant, but it seems to me that season five has two or three difficult issues to sort out. In the first place, Murdoch has committed a serious crime. How they well keep him out of prison and in possession of his badge, well, I hope they can come up with a solution that has some hint of plausibility. Secondly, Julia is married. Let's see, is Darcy already married to someone else, will he be trampled by a rogue elephant?
But what bothers me the most is that Julia was perfectly willing, even eager, to leave Darcy at the alter if only Murdoch would show up to show cause why the wedding shouldn't take place. Pretty shabby, if you ask me. I thought better of her. But I'll hold my peace until such a time as I may see some episodes from season five.

Yeah!!! Does anybody know if being on CBC means 13 episodes as previously, or something more or less? It will be the same, it is standard in Canada. Actually, 13 is not really the standard for CBC family-friendly dramas. Heartland had 13 episodes in its first season but seasons 2, 3, 4, & 5 have all had 18 episodes and if you count the feature-length as 2 parts then season 4 had 20 episodes. Flashpoint has had 13 episodes to cater to CBS's wishes but has gone with 18 episodes for now and in the announced future. Lost Girl is all the way up to 22 episodes this season. So it is a very legitimate question - does anyone know if CBC is looking to do more than 13 or will they keep with the established practice for the show? I doubt they would bother if they wanted to do less than 13 episodes. The show is not just changing broadcasters but is changing is associated production too from Rogers Media to CBC. That is a lot of hassle to go through for 6 episodes. What might make it difficult is the timing of broadcast. With season 5 being shown in the summer and season 6 to follow in the autumn there might be a condition to not promote season 6 on CBC until season 5 on Citytv has been broadcast. And that could leave maybe a few weeks to openly promote the new channel to find season 6 on and to look for it 'later this month' instead of 'next summer'. It sounds silly but if you have ever been a customer of Rogers wireless, home phone, cable tv, or internet then you likely have your own stories to share of the things Rogers has done. Like saying the show will be on in March and then holding it back until June.

Okay, I wasn't being snarky, it's been my understanding from talking to Canadians that 13 is standard for non-reality shows. Maybe that has changed more recently. I haven't read of any change in the number of episodes due to the change to CBC. They could still be making those decisions.

My hope is that S6 might lead to a S7. If not, 6 is a nice, round number to end on.

i believe that there's only going to be 13 eps, partly because that is the show's style and i don't think it would really work to have more than that in a season and partly from other things i've read. as for the air date, i think CBC wants it for their fall line up. which means we'll get 2 seasons of MM this year when we thought there was only gonna be one more ever!! =) but then if there is a 7th season, it would likely mean waiting the usual 9 months until the fall of 2013. which i'm perfectly down with.

I'd settle for anything, it's the best drama on tv.
