Actually, it's extremely light! I got this thing for 50% off, and it's in PERFECT condition. Literally as good as new. No damage, dents, dings of any kind, whatsoever! It now houses my press card. As the editor of a history magazine, and an antiques magazine, what could be better to house my press-card, than a historic, antique card-case? These things are usually HIDEOUSLY expensive. But I got this for a steal!

That's right girls. I'm a GOD now! And I'll be watching over you mortals using my latest purchase... IRIS of PARIS mother-of-pearl and gilt brass lorgnette-style theater-glasses, with the original blue storage-and-carry pouch. Ca. 1860.

Oh, binocular lorgnettes....love them......now, what will really impress the Canadians on the board, is that they come in a Crown Royal bag.....
(For those not in Canada, Crown Royal is a brand of Rye whiskey and it always used to come in a blue velvet bag....those of us whose parents drank the stuff used the bags to carry our allies (marbles) in.....some Miss Hamilton types would be outraged that children were carrying around bags associated with liquor.....)

Huh, I got one the other day and it came with the bag. The bags are practically the best part of buying Crown. I thought they'd said some time ago they were bringing the bags back but I think that was after I bought the last bottle.

Ok Shangas. In 1903-04 where would a lady carry her pocket watch? I recently acquired one and I want it to be part of a period costume I am putting together for the MME.
