I was at the November screening and Q and A and have never seen a recording of the panel. If you want to see the related interviews they are on You Tube under Canadian International Television Festival, Katie Chats. If anyone knows of a recording of the panel that would be awesome.

One of the interesting elements of MM is how they deal with relationships. There is so much more formality in that period. Employees didn't automatically call their bosses or employers by their first names (something I still remember to some degree from when I started working). Coworker relationships were also more formal unless you were on equal terms like George and a fellow constable or between Julia and Emily who are largely equals other than in age.
Romantic relationships and behaviour (at least in public) were also much more formal. It isn't that there weren't trysts and extramarital affairs and such, but that people just comported themselves differently. Today everything seems so casual and out in the open. I don't think romance is dead today, but it is a lot more scaled back or toned down. Today in film and television we pretty much expect potential lovers will be under the sheets by the third or fourth date or such, but that certainly wasn't the case then or at least it was likely extremely rare. the anticipation could drive you crazy even when experienced vicariously such as watching William and Julia circling each other.
I really hope Emily is being pressured to give George the cold shoulder because it would be said if she was just losing interest in him. Mind you such things really do happen. I also hope Julia has the smarts to tell William right away about the note she received.
I also think Gilles actually is dead (I hope) and that someone else is either acting on his behalf and in his name or is someone unconnected but using Gilles' name just to get under William and Julia's name.
Maybe it's misdirection, but they're really making Leslie Garland look shifty. He could well be behind the note and working Emily as revege for the death of his brother and blaming William, Julia and even George for it.

I've never liked or been convinced by Emily and George's romance. It's always felt flat and pointless. I am kind of hoping all this will be the end to them so they can each have new love interests. They just aren't entertaining in scenes together and I don't think they suit.
Emily was losing interest in George before Leslie ever appeared so even if he is pressuring her at the moment it doesn't change the fact Emily just doesn't seem in love with George. I don't actually think Gillies is dead, but I think this letter is from Leslie and not him. I'm not sure why Leslie would blame George for Darcy's death, he wasn't involved in the situation. If Leslie is up to something with Emily then it's unrelated to Darcy's death. Or he wants to cause drama to people W/J care about.

Emily and George might feel something for each other partly because there mightn't be many other likely prospects for each other in their immediate orbits. If Emily is really losing interest in George then I hope she's just honest and lays it out for him. George would be hurt, but he could heal and move on.
Even if Gilles isn't dead I'm tired of the arc with him. I think it would be more interesting if someone were just using his name to get at William and Julia.

There hasn't been evidence all series that Emily feels anything romantic for George. She's been treating him carelessly. I wouldn't believe her claiming she was in love with now. Hopefully they will break up and they can bring in a girl who George has chemistry with, who respects him, and who will love him. That's not Emily. Not unless she's re-written. They already hinted Gillies would be back so if this isn't him then unless they find his body then I think he'll be back in the future. I wish they would either find his body or kill him off. I think this time it's Leslie just using Gillies name, or he's somehow his partner. Leslie is hanging around for a reason and it's nothing good.

I wouldn't say she was in love with him, but she seemed to enjoy his company and him as a person. But suddenly she's turned cold on him. Yeah, that does happen in real life, but television doesn't often mimic real life so I suspect something else is going on.

Since I am in the US I haven't seen these episodes, but the comments of these posts intrigue me. Emily and George are not suitable, mostly because I think Emily is too flighty, and just a little too wicked, not evil, for George. George is a treasure, and he deserves the absolute best. Emily is just not the one.

Yeah, that does happen in real life, but television doesn't often mimic real life so I suspect something else is going on. It can't be something else other than Emily's bored with him. This was all happening before Leslie Garland came into the show. Emily has been acting uninterested all series. I've noticed it and commented on it a few times. It's why I'm even less of a fan of their storyline than I was before. And I've never believed in them.

Emily is just not the one. I agree with you. Their personalities don't mesh. Emily needs someone who's her equal in smarts and energy. George isn't that guy. I love him but he's too goofy and sweet to keep her. That's the big difference between W/J and Emily/George. William and Julia can keep up with and understand each other. So even with some different ideals they work well together. George worked better with other love interests in the past.

Fantastic start to the new season. This was one of the best action packed episodes so far. Wasn't it just wonderful to hear that "Bloody hell Murdoch" again. I guess some CGI was used to make the sinking of the boat. I had a tear in my eye when the red indian bloke took the hand of the young girls mother. Great stuff!!!

I will be watching and I am so excited I couldn't wait for Alibi and have been watching online. You have a good series coming, some strong episodes and only one or maybe two I've found as a dud. You also have the advantage of not having to wait 5 weeks for the next episode which is what the Canadian pace viewers are facing now. To everyone who's waited for Alibi, I hope you all enjoy the episodes. It was worth the wait.
