After a man is shot in a movie house, Thomas Edison becomes a suspect and Murdoch is drawn into the behind-the-scenes drama of James Pendrick's filmmaking venture.

I hope that they don't pull the same old tired Pendrick gag again. It's getting supremely boring.

I don't think he's going to be a suspect. They've kind of used that storyline enough. As for Thomas Edison being a suspect, well...

As I said in a previous posting, Murdoch and Pendrick would really make excellent friends. I think the writers need to do something with that. It would make for a good episode.

The sneak peak does show William, Julia and Pendrick all having dinner together and getting along so maybe this is the episode they become friends

^^yeah, maybe that's why i didn't connect at ALL to this episode. i'll have to watch this again and try not to expect the usual style and maybe i won't hate it the second time around. okay hate is a strong word but it's definitely my least fave of the season so far. there were a few funny bits though.

Lol, the murderess lady was like "A man would never listen to a woman!"
And then Julia just like smacks her ass onto the ground. That right there is why Murdo listens to her. xP
I liked it. That said, it was rather... scatty. And Pendrick was a little out of character; I suppose for humorous purposes.

^^Yeah he was so out of character! Doesn't care about the details? Since when? He was an inventor and architect for christ's sake! Him and Minerva were both totally wierdos this ep.

Minerva was probably just hitting the happy juice. xD
Yeah. I wondered where all his brains had gone when I was watching. His sweetheart's rubbing off on him, I suppose.
....I loved his suit, though. I'm definitely harboring a slight crush on Peter Stebbings. Scratch slight, actually.

I was also hoping for a Jilliam scene at the end... but alas, my hopes were vanquished. Easy case, again- I suspected that lady from the start of the episode.

I have to admit that the reason I love this episode is because I laughed a lot and acting being my field the fact that they make fun of the movie industry as well as actors/actresses was hysterical to watch.
Now for the mystery, indeed it was pretty easy to figure out so this episode might be looked at the "goofy" one this season.
Finally regarding the romance, they should push the pedal a bit, seriously it has been 3 episodes already and William & Julia are cute together but where's the steam they seemed to have in the first episode; I want to see more of that and a real kiss thank you very much and NOT saying in public that "You're very good friends" for the sake of appearance..who will believe that after everything that happened last season!!!
I will enjoy rewatching this episode though mostly because it is very funny and cheeky...I'll see if next week's episode has a more intricate case to solve but a blend of different components make for an interesting and entertaining season in my opinion, I might be the only one here but if it was just a mystery/procedural show I would have probably not gotten into it at all.

I agree with Barbarama. I think this episode was deliberately supposed to be goofy and funny. And I certainly think it achieved that. But on the other hand, I feel that the mystery itself suffered as a result. It was far too easy to solve. Perhaps that was the purpose?
Either way, it's nice to see Pendrick and the chaps at SH No.4 getting along at last.
