Sooooo are we agreed that we don't need to hold our beloved MM cast to the standard of pasty-ness embraced by the Victorians? We wouldn't have an issue about this at all if MM was filmed in the winter. I say hooray for summer filming. The streetscapes have colourful flowers and the beautiful costumes don't have to be covered up with coats. Yes! I love them just the way they are...even if it isn't quite historically accurate. And I agree about how nice the summers look. I know I've mentioned elsewhere how funny it is there never seems to be any winter in Toronto, but at least it makes for a pretty setting and allows a greater range of warm-weather costumes. As you hinted at, lovemondays, coats are necessary for the winter, but they aren't always very fashionable!

Hmmph, I ran across some interesting comments on some of the early articles. Apparently it's not just about whether the actors have healthy tans. In early seasons there were some complaints about the make-up artists caking on too much "orange-based" make up. It occurs to me this could also be a problem in the lighting, too.
Anyway, I'm not the only one who noticed that that Victorian Toronto had a very weird tan about it, hahahaha.
