Is it just me, or is anyone else disappointed that Julia and William didn't make out while she was disguised as a man in Victor, Victorian?
Also, is it just me, or should there be fic with William doing other things "as a man"?

"Father, I must admit to liking the tickle of mustaches!" There can never be too many manly William fics. Julia would agree with that assessment.

Maybe be we need to start a list of fic starters? Issue some challenges like they did on LJ?

But just the men's clothes...and short hair? Yeah, he might find that hot. And be very confused and have to confess.

Which scene? The one with Julia and Emily or the other one(s)? I did seem to think Jonny was close to laughing throughout the end fight scene in KFC. I'm sure there are many other points too. I like to keep a look out for changes in actors voices, to see if they have a cold or not. I do this with a lot of shows for some reason. And something that has always annoyed me is when a character says, "Are you blushing?" But the person clearly isn't. Emily and the other lady, but you're right - the whole cast was probably on the verge of cracking up the entire time. On a related note there was a "wiener" (hot dog) commercial on my clock radio this morning filled with innuendo: it was made with fresh ingredients instead of chemicals, so it was "cleaner" than others. The person reading the commercial was so close to losing it the entire time...but then at the end had to read a slogan (probably left over from the traditional marketing campaign) about how it was good for the whole family!!!! I think the tech support had to cut the sound very quickly!

Maybe be we need to start a list of fic starters? Issue some challenges like they did on LJ?Last night I got around to updating the plot bunny list in the fanfic section because there have been so many recent good ones bandied about. I'm sure I've forgotten some already, though. If you have a chance, take a look, and add any that I left out. They can just gather dust there for the record until we get our own decent archive.

I realize what you were actually going after was something more in the Red Rose "informal education" category that William might hide behind his "scientific literature" on the subject. While there is quite a lot of "low" pornography floating about, I'm thinking what William might have would probably be more in the area of the "high porn" category...so much so that he might be the Queen of De Nile in telling himself that it ain't really pronz at all, it's scholarly subject matter. You've worded it far better than I, but yes. I keep mentioning The Pearl, because it was available in William's time, but it's just too coarse for him I believe. I think ink he would have had something far more "highbrow", something that he could tell himself was scholarly, yet it still fueled many a fantasy. What was your major in college? I was an English major, and we certainly discussed our fair share of smut (okay, tons of smut), but we never did Victorian topics. It was mostly the erotic poetry of John Donne, and how dirty Shakespeare's sonnets really were.

I shouldn't pile on the all-male Catholic thing anymore, but who knows what all went on at Jesuit boys school up in New Brunswick...

I meant to insinuate that he had a thing for Julia ladies in drag. Not mustaches in general. But speaking of mustaches, why does William keep imagining his future self with one? It's weirding me out!

Lol I know what you mean. I think it's just a nod to the books. Murdoch has a mustache, something Jennings didn't allude to till about 2/3 of the way through the first book! Or perhaps I just missed the earlier mention. All I know is I did a double take when it said he was twirling his mustache. They've covered some of the stories to varying degrees in the show too.

Then, weirdly, she claimed Yannick Bisson looked just like the William Murdoch she imagined. Deliberate amnesia? While Yannick looks smexy in some scruff, I think only his wife would put up with the full mustache/beard Grizzly!Yannick thing.
