I dunno...the books always refer to him as Murdoch and to me it's weird to call him William unless it's from Julia's POV. Just be glad it was in there at all, it was more of an afterthought on my part. In my mind I justified it by him being drunk and not really 'himself'. It was way worse in my first draft. I'm glad I toned it down. Glad you liked it! For some reason that took me forever to write...I was trying to find actual erotic books to refer to (besides kama sutra) but I couldn't seem to find anything so I just did this very vaguely. I don't really like the books, so maybe your naming style is evoking the book "Murdoch" more than the show characters for me? Anyway, that's my problem since you're the author, and it's your creative work. Regarding the erotic books: Burton's annotations/essays on the "Book of the Thousand Nights" (Arabian Nights) was widely considered to be pornography. But other than that, pornography was usually politely referred to as "French books" or maybe "Italian books", depending on what country you were in. (In the same way you would say "the French disease" unless you happened to be French). Here's an example for you: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_in_the_CloisterI can actually do some research on this and get you some more examples, though the time period I'm familiar with is a bit earlier. But since William was in a remote Jesuit school, I can kind of see him having access to antique pronz, lol.

But that was mostly because I was expecting it to be like the show so I was really off put by the totally different feel. I've recently managed to get through the first book and I did get into it this time so even though Jennings style is super realistic and grim, almost to a fault, I did enjoy her writing. Well there isn't much point now since I finished the fic but thanks for offering! I finally looked up what pronz was...keep seeing it on here...I should have figured as much. Who comes up with these names?

Who comes up with these names? I have a feeling the demonic well of most random slang terms is that 4Chan forum, but it eventually radiates outward through social media, gamers, people listening to celebrities who are trying to sound hip. Anyway, I've obviously spent way too much time on the Internet, and if my stalker "eclair" pipes up, he will vouch for that, lol.

That's where I suppose all this l33t speak comes from. 4-chan is responsible for the downfall of western civilization. Or at least for epic trolling.

I saw a remark to the effect that they shall soon be responsible for the downfall of Tumblr, though I'm not sure where, why, or what the heck is up with that. Maybe it has something to do with epic trolling.

That was a lot of fun. Thanks for writing! I have only recently started to read fanfic. I like how you kept William and Julia in character, even down to his inability to handle too much alcohol. I was actually getting a bit afraid for Julia for a few moments in chapter 3. I almost thought that William was going to go right out of his head and start really hurting her due to some weird chemical imbalance. And Julia would have to really beat him off with the baton. I was so relieved that he stopped after she bit him! And then so sorry that she had to bite him! The upshot is: I could not stop reading: so brava to you. Do you have other fan fiction?

What happened to the English language. ( I know, I am a fossil)

It might have been a bit hard for her to hit him with a baton considering her hands were restrained behind her back...but yeah it was either she bites him or head butts him. But he was wearing a helmet so I thought that second option would go poorly and also it would have been too 'intentionally' violent. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it! Indeed I do. Far too many. It's really quite frightening. My first attempt is actually on the forum here...so you can check that hot mess out if you want and start from the beginning of my descent into madness.

I shall forever wear the badge of shame as being partly responsible for prompting Eus to look up pronz on the Internet. I take no responsibility for the fate of my generation or all successive ones. At least the "over-exposure" resulted in a general International open-mindedness? At least in those nations that didn't censor the Internet in the name of "morals".

the beginning of my descent into madness. Hey, who are you to make fun of the amount of time I spend on MM kerfluffle? btw, I am getting a vibe particularly from your fanfic style: even though you are now Canadian, were you raised in England?

even down to his inability to handle too much alcohol. I thought that was a nice touch, too! And also the scruff in theory, as long as William doesn't overdo it into beard...ugh. I wasn't sure about the batons, but, once again, that may be a strictly personal thing: I think I'd find the sound so jarring that it would through me out of the "sexy time" moment. It doesn't take much to do that with me, though, since I can't even listen to music out of a certain range.

A "blissful" thought about this pic: William is worrying over some case materials or even checking some dire events in the newspaper when Julia appears in the doorway. Wearing those stockings. Whatever passes for Edwardian lingerie. And William's homburg. If William doesn't notice immediately, one of those gold slippers is coming down on the newspaper! While the tie is simultaneously being ripped off. Wait, do I see a tip of a tie in that pic...?
