I travelled to Toronto for the MME from Ireland and met up with UK MM friends. Talked to Peter Mitchell and a guy from Shaftesbury who said the fans would be blown away by S8. We were shown a sneak peek of S8 (about 15 minutes) and sworn to secrecy...all I can say that is AWESOME!! My lips are sealed. We were also lucky to receive a 'tip' about filming on location in Gage Park in Hamilton. OMG, Ireland! That was quite a trip! I really hope the Murdoch Mysteries folk took notice and went the extra mile to roll out the red carpet for you! I'm glad to hear that the showrunners and producers are so enthusiastic about S8, too! Usually you can get the vibe when people are just phoning it in. But if the people who make the show still seem excited, then I have faith MM will deliver! I actually thought S7 was over-hyped, but then the shows themselves where consistently high quality. Now I expect the same from S8, and I can't wait for it to start! *parks in front of television computer screen* Glad that you were able to meet your friends as well. What fun! Did they take you anywhere special besides the MM Open House? That's sooooo cool about the tip, too! I believe Hamilton is where the wedding(s) were filmed! My money is still on the idea that ALL the leaked ones were fake. I respect your sworn silence, though.

I know it's a cliché but I really love Murdoch Mysteries....found it by accident on Alibi TV. Unfortunately it doesn't get the recognition or airtime on major TV channels over here. I was amazed to find that Canadian 'locals' had never seen it, so I spread the word....it would have been rude not to I know someone in Ottawa who had never heard of Murdoch Mysteries and couldn't find it on TV when I asked him about it! He's Asian, if that makes some difference in what might be on TV, but I thought everyone would have CBC because it's the "public" channel. Evidently he did have it on some channel because he finally caught an episode (it was an early episode, so I'm guessing it was actually CityTV). My impression is that MM was not marketed at all while it was on CityTV. Now that it's on CBC, it gets a lot of marketing in Canada (sadly none in the U.S.), but it hasn't really sunk in yet. Perhaps part of the problem is Canadians don't watch their public television channel, just like a lot of people in the US don't watch out public television station PBS, because it's considered to be for old rich pretentious types.

Somebody brought up this article in which Yannick himself makes an observation about American fans: www.positive-entertainment.com/interviews/yannickbisson/Yup. I think Yannick is very carefully understating the "little bit different" here! I've seen reports from conventions where people asked questions that came straight out of rated X fanfic (of all orientations/pairings, too). Now that's...wow...I can't imagine having to deal with that. But I can imagine some woman in very loud clothing in the front row jumping up and down in her seat and waving both hands until she can get in her question about when so and so is going to kiss/have sex/get married (or trying to get the actor to admit the character is gay)...no matter how central it is to the actual plot of the show. Then rushing the stage after the panel talk to squeeze the stuffing out of/drool all over their man candy to enact a few minutes of imagined relationship. I wish I were Canadian.

Hmmm...Not sure why Ottawa wouldn't have CBC but I assume it's something to do with whatever TV service he has...cable, satellite, fibe, etc. Still it seems like CBC would be a basic channel in Canada. Odd. And yes, you're right, if he saw an old episode, then it was likely CityTV, not CBC (or perhaps, the channel that is for hearing and/or visually impaired-they've also aired old MM episodes at times). You're correct in that City didn't advertise the show. Canadians by and large don't watch CBC shows and that is such a shame as there is some really good entertainment on the network now. I say that now but I have to admit that when I was growing up there was as CBC station in our city and the other stations beamed into us from the States. None of us kids would admit to watching much of anything on CBC (except Hockey Night in Canada) as the programs seemed so "hokey" compared to the slick shows being aired on NBC, CBS and ABC. Canadian TV has come a looooong way since then but I guess the stigma remains for the CBC.

If PBS can build on those two they may turn into a more popular channel: and the baton to sustain funding for public television will successfully pass to a younger generation. By the way I found there was a deal for PBS to air Murdoch Mysteries in 2009, but apparently it just didn't gain traction in the places where it tested. I think it will be harder to convince PBS to try again since they already tried once.

My money is still on the idea that ALL the leaked ones were fake. I respect your sworn silence, though. Murdoch Mysteries was the main reason we travelled to Canada but we did some of the usual 'tourist' things too, such as the CN tower, Trip to Niagara Falls and shopping!! I've been contemplating about posting the next bit, but here goes. As I said we were given a tip where the filming would be (this was not guaranteed) so we travelled to Hamilton. It was a really hot day and they were filming near the fountain. At no point did we get in the way, stayed a respectable distance back, did not interfere with filming, etc. The crew have people that keep people back at certain points in case they get in the shot and we got talking to some of them. One lovely member of the crew was amazed that we'd come over specifically for the Murdoch Mysteries event and she told us that she'd let Yannick know. At no point did we ask for any favours, photos, etc. She came over and told us that Yannick knew we were there and would come over when he had time. Filming finished and we waited patiently when he arrived and proceeded straight to the car. One of the crew told us that she had to get him somewhere. He did say 'sorry' but still went straight to the car. The car didn't move for a few minutes!! We had a fantasic time watching filming and it was worth the sunburn. I was going to ask him to sign a couple of things for friends that couldn't go to Toronto. So, it would have been the 'icing on the cake' if Yannick had spared us a couple of minutes out of his busy schedule as it's highly unlikely that we'll ever get the chance to meet him again, but c'est la vie. We still had a wonderful time in Toronto and I would love to go back but would probably have to win the lottery first.

Yannick might have had to take phone calls and stuff in the car: I'm sure he really was busy. It sounds like he knew you came from Ireland and really would have come over if he could have! At least you saw the filming! Is there anything you can say about it that's not sworn to secrecy? Don't give up hope - maybe MM will film in the UK at a time you can go to London. You never know! I'm still amazed you came all the way from Ireland to visit Murdoch Mysteries - you win as biggest fan! I really hope the crew treated you as VIPs!

The only thing that I can say about what we saw was there was a dead body.....surprise surprise!! The make up on the dead body was so realistic. He came and chatted to us for a few minutes. Also saw 'Murdoch' cycling to the scene several times. It was fun to watch the rehearsals and the involvement of extras. Their costumes were so detailed and the props were too. It was amazing to see something that took hours to do that will probably be only a minute or two on the final edit. As I said before, we had a fantastic time and don't regret a single minute of it.

Was this the supposed "wedding" episode? If so, this makes me think once again that the episode is actually a series of bad dreams about the wedding. If it's the same episode.

I think they were shooting episode 6 (open to correction though). No sign of a wedding unfortunately. We only spent a few hours there. There may or may not be photo/video evidence (waiting on a friend to share them) but my pics and video are bad as I forgot my glasses and couldn't see in the strong sun

Is that Murdock guy American? That would be the frosting on the cookie, lol. I'm still holding out hope it's a matter of dictation/translation for the visually impaired. Perhaps Dragon Dictate tends to go with Murdock? But people should realize this error is occuring. Don't tweet it to Yannick hahaha! XD He strikes again! xD

(Though CC was questioning whether men even wear them.)

And Yannick corrected him again! He didn't even go back and correct the first one!!!! Does he have some screws loose?! I saw his twitter feed and it seems he is looking for work in the acting/extra field. Doesn't one start with spelling the name of the show right? I wonder if Yannick feels like William when he points out the spelling error, lol. UPDATE: Now he's corrected the spelling of Murdoch, but the other word in the title is spelled wrong. (He spells Marvelous as "Marvellous"). lol? It's a spelling/grammar train wreck!
