Hmmm, good question, I'm not sure of the extent of the similarities between the British law and the Ontario law but I imagine they were comparable. The "Empire" situation makes it likely they just ratified it, even though Canada had their own legal system and administration. Sounds right !

Is this the ep that Georgina got all teary eyed over during the read-through? Because if it's not about the train wreck after all, I'm wondering if the cause is more personal?

Not only am I wondering why William is doing Clegg's job, the Secret Service was founded after McKinley's assassination in 1901. Is he giving them pointers?

Well @cbcofficial gave the Wedding Date as June 4, 1902. The officially kills the idea that the episode could have anything to do with the famous Manhattan train wreck. What a missed opportunity in terms of both the science and the media sensationalism involved. It's not too late for William to get involved with the "show trial" of the engineer, though - that starts in 1903: www.iridetheharlemline.com/tag/park-avenue-wreck/While June weddings are traditional, it's odd that the writers knocked out half the year in 4 episodes. There must be little reference to actual historical events this year. Here's my old time-line thread for what's been missed so far: murdochmysteriesfans.proboards.com/thread/706/happened-1902-ehHope the CBC didn't whip out that June date without consulting the writers first.

He was taking Julia to French restaurants in Season 7, which may explain why he was so desperate to run around at the Mayor's beck and call. Maybe he was already thinking of how he was going to get a promotion that would pay for the honeymoon...? But another thing we have been discussing is the fact that William would legally control Julia's fortune after they are married. (I have a feeling Julia would ask a lawyer to draw up some papers allowing her to reserve some independent control, though - and William wouldn't think twice about signing them.) But it's conceivable that he's just been socking it away for when he did marry. No, he didn't have as much money as Julia, but he wouldn't have been poor either-a detective was a solid middle class wage, and living as frugally as he has for years could mean that he has a tidy nest egg stored up. Just a guess. William's been buying Canadian Bonds, maybe he cashed a few in. I hope they had a better return on investment than current ones. I doubt he'd be 'investing' in stocks, he scoffed at George buying them, thought it was gambling.

Maybe in the episode where William recovered millions in gold for the Canadian government, he got a tip!

he scoffed at George buying them, thought it was gambling. Perhaps after George started to benefit from prudent investing, William became interested in the technical principles of it all and tried a bit of "conservative" investing. Perhaps he invented the "money market" account with a range of balanced investments in stocks and bonds.

I was like "OOOOHHHHHH a clip" then I ended up going "but...but..but I've already seen that!" It's a mixed bag for me & the honeymoon scenes. I want to see some spoiled but I don't. (well we already know about the corset in the hotel room). I want to be plesently surprised. Anyway what I was really hoping for was a clip on Williams "attack hug" on the Prez.

From how Helene described it (the corset being dangerous), I think that scene is from a different episode - probably The Devil Wears Whalebone. lol "Attack Hug" - so you were hoping for another round of edgy "gay William" gifs?

MM HONEYMOON TWIST: While at the hotel, William discovers that his secret lover, Teddy Roosevelt, is staying at the same hotel. Hijinks ensue, culminating in William's sudden attack hug when his dear Teddy's life is endangered. Julia pretends not to notice the sparks between them
