In the sappiest Little House on the Prairie move MM has ever proved, all the constables pitch in, each personally cutting down a tree and dragging a log to build the house - Habitat for Humanity Style - and then they throw a house-raising barn dance after (Sadie Hawkins) in which everyone looks pointedly at Emily to see which casually buff-and-sweaty constable she will chose. I kinda wanna write this fic...is that bad? Maybe not for a Very Special Christmas.

I kinda wanna write this fic...is that bad? No. I kind of want to read it. Don't forget to throw in all the Little House on the Prairie flourishes like how to make homemade cider and Christmas honey cakes, and of course make sure everyone gets a gift under the tree...

Has William learned to appreciate McGuire's beer yet? When I rewatched the episode, I realized that I was mistaken and he was only drinking water. doh Aw

Was it THAT long ago they were in Kitchener? I thought it was more recent? I guess not... That's the only cold soup I've ever had so that was my first and only guess. I was thinking it was the Walper but I thought they filmed there only a month or so ago. Perhaps they didn't actually film at the hotel for this episode but a later one where they're still living at the hotel. But they would have to actually BE at a hotel that existed during the early 20th century!

It was Wed, August 27th so it couldn't have been for TMAS as that was filmed in July when we were at the open house. They must still be living at the hotel, Windsor House, later in the season.

Oh they are calling the hotel "Windsor House"? Maybe it's when we get the shot of William in his robe...

But they would have to actually BE at a hotel that existed during the early 20th century! I actually checked up on this to see if the Windsor House Hotel existed. If it did there's no reference to it now. The closest I got was the Windsor Arms Hotel, a boutique hotel in Yorkville. It's housed in a building that was built in 1927 and I get the impression the hotel is new in relation to the building. It's a very upscale hotel in the most upscale shopping district in Toronto.

Found a postcard with inside views of Walker House if we were going to go with that one... It's crazy how big and spacious this looks in the postcard, but in modern terms this was a dinky little building on the corner before it was knocked down.

Ooh I see - Windsor House is the fancy hotel in Toronto now with the initials WH, so that seems to be the one that MM is trying to evoke on the show?

MAPLE SYRUP ON EVERYTHING I have something in mind but it's not going to be anything like that....mostly because I've never watched little house on the prairie... Also, I've already written a Christmas story. The title was really imaginative too. www.fanfiction.net/s/8971203/1/A-Christmas-Murdoch

I'm surprised they didn't have them living at the Queen's Hotel but there was definitely WH on the door when William entered the hotel so that suggests they're living at the Windsor House. Maybe we'll get to see later when we see the ep that was filmed at the Walper.

My prediction: by the end of the episode they are Disinvited from the hotel and are forced to find a real place to live...

The actual hotel used is the Walper Hotel in Kitchener. MM posted a pic of the transformation earlier this summer. (I'm stalking everything for location information .) The soup looked more tomato based...gazpacho perhaps? It looked a green color on my computer screen, which would probably make it either gazpacho or one of the "garden" vichyssoises. I was going with vichyssoise because of the fancy waiters and Julia's efforts to make William more "classy". Heh, William and I are in agreement on cold soups it seems in that we don't really care for them. I once had a watermelon gazpacho that was passable, but I wouldn't order it again. Also, I really liked Julia's outfit in this scene-it seemed softer than her regular outfits, but I'm also guessing that's seduction wear of sorts.
