After watching Justin Trudeau's crowning swearing in ceremony yesterday and his press conference afterwards, I have been imagining someone asking Julia why she is still involved with the suffragette movement and she replies "Because it's 1903!".
(Note: to those reading this who aren't in Canada or who didn't hear Trudeau talking with the press as our new Prime Minister: Questions from the press were not given to him ahead of time so no one knew what would be asked of him. One of the first questions was to the affect of why do women make up 50% of your cabinet?" He immediately replied "Because it's 2015." )

Totally agree, Lizmc I'm really aging myself here but it feels just like the original Trudeau-mania all over again. Same charisma...same "zinger" comments. But really, think about the depiction of the ladies fighting for women's right to vote on MM and then to hear that question asked in 2015. Frustrating for sure, but it makes me appreciate the early suffragettes far more than I did. I want to see the movie when it opens and I plan to go alone...because I can!!

I remember the original Trudeaumania as well......and, yes, his son has the same charisma and presense.....I know I would have gone to Rideau Hall if I'd been able to go to Ottawa.....

And he's got a new hat for the occasion. I'm liking the LumberjackWilliam! look.
It could be their house but I have both practical and philisophical issues with them living in the country (that's not an urban plot of land in the pic).

Although it could be at the Todmorden saw mill in the Don Valley.....knowing William, he'd pick the wood himself and supervise them cutting the planks.......(More likely to be concerning the case in Algonquin Park, though....)

They filmed the Algonquin ep back in early August. It's the one we stumbled upon at Westfield Heritage Village when Fallenbelle was here. I like your sawmill theory though.

Good article. I've just finished rewatching the last ep where we learn a bit more about her. I'm glad the writers are bringing some perspective to racism in Canada.

I look forward to seeing more of her character! And if Henry asks her out on a date, I hope she just says no. He's a lout.

And if Henry asks her out on a date, I hope she just says no. He's a lout. Henry can be funny but you're right, he's a lout nonetheless. I'm still ticked that he stole those things from the locker room in the Empire Club. WTF??? I have no illusions whatsoever that that kind of behaviour regularly went on with coppers; it was alluded to in The Great Wall, but I have spent 9 seasons under the happy illusion that the lads at Station House #4 followed William's aboveboard example. I am very disappointed with Henry. (I also don't believe he's just acting out because he is upset with Mary Lawrence. Let's add obtuse to Henry's list of character flaws.)
