We're kind of used to it now though. As Ruby calls it "the eternal courtship". I'll be fine if the writers keep it light like they did with S7 but if they start throwing in stupid roadblocks at this point I will be VERY unhappy. The only real threat I can see is they have Julia make another colossally bad, reactive, decision that she implements without any input from William. They've done it before (aka Buffalo) and they can do it again. Bad choice writers. Bad choice. Agreed. Still, it's going to be hard to watch again. That was just a little too much angst for me.

Me too. It doesn't have to go there. We still have 18 episodes of great writing that stand alone to look forward to.
Are you going to be able to watch S8 with only a relatively small delay or are you facing an epic wait? I was asking snacky what she thinks we should do about it. I'm going to see it on CBC but I have no interest in joining the twitterverse conversation. I would much rather be happy, sad, mad and intrigued with all of you but not at the cost of spoiling it for you. What are your thoughts?

I have few cards up my sleeve and one of them is bound to work!

I'm on twitter but will not be online never mind on twitter when MM is on. It's the only show I turn off my computer for. Don't want ANY distractions!

At least I had the chance of watching it knowing how it was going to end. If I had been watching it real time, I may have stopped watching. I think you'd only notice if you were watching for the shippy bits. Then each week you'd be like: "Well, got that bit." - and you'd over-analyze it to death. The proposal only took long because people were demanding a proposal, and weren't satisfied with the bits leading up to it.

Julia can't possibly be insecure about William's feelings now. If an obstacle comes up, it will be of William's making.

I had a thought on the Secret. lovemondays look away!
What if Ava Moon was caught, and somehow the police extracted from her that William helped her escape before she was hung? Even though William helped her, she may have been under duress and confessed in a way that made William look especially bad.
Then there would be trouble...

Honestly, I hope the story stays closed-William righted the wrong, let it be done.

This sends chills down my spine and if MM is really a Greek Tragedy you found the perfect mechanism for destroying it. Kudos to your imagination, but I think it is time for you to take a time out until you can learn to speculation on pleasant, uplifting, story lines.

Yeah, I can almost hear Shaftesbury pocketing that away as the "tragic" way to end the series. William expelled from the police force after a corruption trial. Perhaps not even a trial. Perhaps there's big media coverage of his "corruption" and he is pressured to "move on". But there is a light at the end of his tunnel, as he has a book about his detecting methods in the works, and Julia is pregnant at last, or something of that ilk. Now that I've come up with the uber doom scenario, does my excommunication idea look a little lighter and brighter?

I don't know if lighter and brighter are the words I would use to describe it, but at least you've held out some hope that our hero and heroine will not be totally destroyed. Now that you have me thinking about this completely depressing and soul crushing scenario I will add that there could be jail time for Murdoch and it will certainly end Brax's career. And I can see Giles enjoying every minute of their demise. Now I have to call my shrink. Thanks a lot!

Aw, sorry about my talent for imagining soul-crushing scenarios! I f it helps I doubt anyone would go to jail - the massive cover up would continue, but on a higher level.
Someone with a fluffier imagination come up with a happier scenario so mrsbrisby doesn't need to go to a shrink!
