ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? March 16th for the next new episode!
Well then I'm just going to have to introduce the super geeky spreadsheet next week to give you all a new Murdoch fix. How does that sound? I'm planning to release the timeline as well during this hiatus. I'm just working on final details now.

At this rate the folks in the UK will have caught up by the time we get the season finale. Perhaps that's what they want as the final ep is a 'killer'.... Doubt they will have caught up by then though. They probably won't. I'm just being pissy.

This week's episode in the UK was the best yet. They managed to complete two story's in the same episode. Saving the US Presidents life and the Toronto auto club murder. Excellent. I enjoyed that one too, rondetto.

Of course I love MM. But I get a bit fed up of women fawning over him as what happened in this week's episode.
It's great to hear some good old fashioned English expressions even though they're in Canada. Brackenreid has the best lines, Bloody hell Murdoch, Well bugger me.

I have a sneaking suspicion that S9 will probably be the last and W/J will finally get their child. Don't curse it! I suspect some child shopping shall occur. Whether a child appears will depend on renewal prospects for season 10. There won't be a little bundle unless they are sure the show will end that season because the writers know that will be jumping the shark. But the tension between William wanting a family and Julia wanting a career is pure angst gold.

IMHO TV shows don't have "natural limits" and the shows themselves never "run out of ideas" (though particular writers may run out of ideas). It's the networks (with demands for ratings) or writers (fans) that choose to put and close certain arcs on a show. I personally don't like the idea of the baby arc defining Murdoch Mysteries because the "relationship" arc shouldn't be defining the show at all. It's "Murdoch" Mysteries. It's about the character of William Murdoch, and the format of the show is weekly mysteries. As Law & Order proves, that can run on ad infinitum. Westerns can also run a long time. I just got it in my head Bonanza ran a long time and Googled it - over 14 seasons. Obviously they didn't let one romance shape the show. Allowing the Jilliam arc to shape the entire series is purely a fan projection. I really hope the writers don't allow themselves to be trapped by it.

William and Julia's relationship has been one of the defining parts of MM. It's been that way from the start, it's why their wedding was the 100th episode. But it's not just their personal stories that are nearing a natural conclusion, all the characters are. A show can't go on forever and MM isn't anything like L&O. It will end in the not too distant future, it's a sad thought but it's also inevitable.
