A James Bond movie just came on TV, and this reminded me that Yannick loves James Bond. At first glimpse, William Murdoch is probably the opposite of James Bond in every way. After all James Bond is a famous drinker, a gambler, a womanizer, a gun-weilding egomaniac. Then there's William: reserved practitioner of teetotalism, abstainer from all vices, gracious to all women, notably lacking a gun, and frequently putting his ego aside. Well, I think we can find some things in common if we work at it - especially since William's inner James Bond came out in The Murdoch Identity. 1) MM has recognizable theme music that people put on their cellphones and a particular visual style. That's like the James Bond franchise, isn't it? 2) William is well-groomed and can be quite dapper when he's out on the town. 3) William is a Badass in a Nice Suit (from TV Tropes). Also "Beauty Never Tarnished". William doesn't get mussed in the process of fighting crime. 4) William is a chick magnet. 5) William drinks tea like Bond drinks martinis. 6) William is attracted to Women of Action. 7) There is something TV Tropes calls "Bloodless Carnage" in Bond films that might apply to the relatively soft sold gore in MM. 8) William's Bicycle = Bond Car? 9) Double Entendre fest - MM going wild with these. 10) Iconic Outfit: Bond Tuxedo = William's suit/homburg 11) Bond has modern "technology porn", William has Victorian "technology porn". Q explaining tech = William explaining tech? I'm sure there are more!

Found Yannick on this guy's rather knowledgeable list of James Bond picks: www.imdb.com/list/ls050395187/Sadly he doesn't rate high enough to get commentary. On the other hand, the list also includes the older Bonds, so the list is a lot shorter than it looks. Hang in there Yannick~

Hang in there Yannick~ While YB certainly looks the part of a Bond, I don't think he'll ever get consideration as he's not from the British Isles. There's been one Australian who played Bond, and he's generally considered the least popular Bond-people won't say as much, but I suspect it's because he's not a Brit.

He's probably just not tall enough, either. But I do hope MM allows him to have some more Bond moments! I'm sure it's fun! Ooooh - I know what could happen. George could write a James Bond-like adventure prototype. And there could be a web series that allows YB to play that character.
