So, I'm contemplating getting this: www.amazon.com/MURDOCH-MYSTERIES-COLLECTION-SEASONS-1-4/dp/B00ANGICPG/ref=sr_1_2?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1417341812&sr=1-2&keywords=murdoch+mysteriesIt's a pretty good price, but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger for a couple of reasons. First of all, my husband and I are trying to convert our DVD collection to digital, and get rid of the physical media. Second, we don't have a Bluray player for this reason, and most of our recent purchases have of film/television have been from iTunes. Yet, hubby being the techie geek he is, he's still talking about buying a tricked out BluRay burner/player for his video projects. So, I hesitate to buy standard def media because it's on it's way out, but I don't have the Bluray player for HD. Normally, I've just been buying HD videos on iTunes, but you guys have made comments about people being orange. I guess my bottom line question is this: is it worth to buy Bluray for MM, or does it not matter? Also, SD on iTunes is $14.99 a season, while it's $19.99 for HD. Is it worth me spending the extra money on the HD? It'll cost a little more to buy them from iTunes, but since this is already the direction we're going, is there a reason I must have the physical DVD instead? I seem to recall there's not much in the way of DVD extras to induce me to buy physical... I realize this is a bit rambly, so apologies for that, and I hope it still makes some sort of sense.

I would look at the extras, and buy disk media for that as well as the price.
Need to get season 7 for my Mom somehow- hope the price is down on that....

I bought the DVD boxed set so that I could play it on the computer. We have a BluRay but then I couldn't watch on my computer when we're away. I have digital copies of seasons 5-8 on the computer. When S8 is finished I'm hoping they'll bring out another boxed set of the last 4 seasons, if not I guess I'll get the individual seasons. I'll get the DVD's again, one day I'll get the BluRays as well to watch on the big screen. I actually like having the digital copies on the computer but my hard drive is getting kinda full so I don't want everything digital plus I don't want to chance losing them if my hard drive crashes. I always like to have a physical copy just like I prefer to have a physical book (despite the fact I use my phone as an ebook reader for most books these days). I've just realized after watching TGM on DVD that the show is nowhere near as orange as it is on TV. It's still more orange than the later seasons but nowhere near as bad. Maybe they colour corrected it for the DVD's.

Well it went on sale for the first time ever on amazon.ca so I scooped it up without a second thought...but the deal wasn't for blu-ray so I don't have your quandary.
As to itunes...this is how it works (if you didn't already know). If you buy HD, it includes SD so you can use either version. Whereas if you buy SD and then decide you want HD, you'll have to pay full price again rather than make up the difference like how it is for music.
Also, my laptop doesn't have the fastest processor or graphic's card or something, and it has trouble playing HD vids so for me I again always go SD. Unless your super discerning, I don't think there is much difference between BR and standard, for anything made after DVD's became a thing anyway. I could use the 1995 Pride and Prejudice mini series in BR. However, it should be noted that I've never seen this show on DVD so I don't know what the quality is like. Hopefully better than the P&P set.
Sorry, this wasn't much help, was it?
