Hi all, Victorian gentleman saying hi. I was wondering iff any of you fans in the UK have been to Blists Hill victorian town in Telford? I work there on Saturdays as a volunteer in the old school. Its a magical place to be. Not unlike the black country museum... we are dressed in victorian clothes, you exchange your modern money for victorian currency, and generally live like they did in the late 1800,s. Its sooooo nice to be able to doff my bowler to a passing lady without getting arrested for harrassment!!! lol. Generally speaking, for one day of the week, i get to go back in a time machine to the 1800,s. It,s well worth a visit. Go on yahoo or google images and type in Blists Hill Victorian town. Or, check out the website. Well worth a visit.

Just looking at this on a map and it isn't far from where a friend of mine lives, in Bewdley (or, at least not far, in Canadian terms......I think Toronto and Montreal are fairly close together, as it is only a 5 hour drive.....)It looks interesting.....
Cheers

Does watching "The Victorian Pharmacy" count? It's filmed at Blists' Hill.

Yes, I worked at a living history museum for a while in South Western Ontario, John R. Park Homestead, it's set up around 1852, even got to dress in period costume and take school tours around. I volunteered for the special events for a couple of years after until I moved away, it's too far to travel now unfortunately. Loved every minute of working there, wish I could do it again.

It is wonderful, 6 days a wk in 2015, the one day a wk in the 1890,s. it,s a lovely feeling. Anyobody who does volunteer work at these kind of "living" museums all say the same thing. So Hodge, where was this museum of yours?
