So in the TPBM thread, I asked the following question and later thought this merited more discussion: If William were around today, would he be a technophile, or technophobe? Eus us gave compelling reasons for both, and I think I would agree. murdochmysteriesfans.proboards.com/thread/5/person-me-game-tpbm?page=4I think William would love all the gadgetry, but probably would hate social media and all the TV/movie binge watching. He'd want us to read books more often and have more conversations of merit.

There are a lot of technopundits around who opine on net neutrality, cyber security, the dangers of big data, etc. IMHO, William has the wisdom and foresight to realize something is a bad idea. He's also more of a "maker" - he'd be more interested in setting up local neighborhood wifi than pretending he's a visionary because he knows what a hashtag is (you'd be surprised at this phenomenon in the San Francisco area). In speaking of which, I was planning to play this video at some point: While it's about modern "big data", I thought it could be repurposed...

IMO William would be the guy who would design and build his own house and live off the grid: complete with solar panels and his own water reclamation system. He and Julia would have all the technology, but would severely limit screen time, especially for the child(re) if they have any. They would have a library and spend a lot of time outdoors.
