This is something I think about quite a bit. We all know how much he wants a son but alas we all know Julia can't have children. (I don't even know if she wants children that badly anyways...?) I often wonder if the show will ever grant him one or if I want to see them deal with that. I think if they did I'd like it to be near the very end and it to be something that sort of falls into their lives rather than them seeking it out. Something along the lines of a couple gets murdered that recently had a baby and they end up caring for it.
Anyone else have thoughts on what they'd want to see in regards to this?

Personally, I think if William and Julia have any children, it will be an adoption, late in the series. Not only have we been told Julia can't conceive, but she would be 40ish by now, which would be considered very old to be a first time mother in the Edwardian Age, and would be far riskier than today. Any pregnancy was much higher risk in that period, but that would be off the risk chart.......I can see your suggestion working, possibly an older child......

Women married, and conceived, very young back then, by modern standards.
These days it's not unknown for women to have kids in their 30s and 40s, or even later than that. But in the Victorian & Edwardian eras, couples tended to marry young, and have kids soon after, if they could afford it/were able to do so.
IF they had kids, then the only way I see it happening is that they adopted a child in some manner.

Julia doesn't think she can get pregnant, so it's doubtful that she and William are taking any "precautions" - that could always lead to a surprise. But I think it would be a waste of potential plot material if Julia didn't consult a few doctors over her condition and tap into the medical revolution going on during that era. That quest could end in failure, though. For now I'd also like Julia to hold her own and assert the importance of her career and work. It would be great if William was even swayed by how important her work was... like he got on board with Julia running for political office.

The problem with Julia concentrating on her career is the clock is ticking and they're not getting any younger if the writers do want to tackle a biological child. I would really like them to have a biological child but at the end of the 20th season so my wish will never be granted as Julia would be too old by then.
