I happened upon this movie on youtube last night while looking for Murdoch stuff! I had been wanting to check it out. It's pretty good. Helene always does a great job playing people like this. Much different than Julia, that's for sure lol. After watching it all I could think was "William is gonna be soooo mad at you when he finds out what you've done!" www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVB0ZHfHuOg"In this 2005 drama, a man's mistress (Jennifer Beals) is found dead after his wife (Helene Joy) learns about the affair." Here's the link in case any one else wanted to watch edit: I should also mention there's nudity and such so don't sit down and watch this with a group of kids

So weird to see Helene with dark hair. Her portrayal of a very disturbed woman is mesmerizing. Thanks for the link! I don't know if you have mentioned this but Helene is in the third original made for tv Murdoch Mysteries : her role there is also pretty disturbing, but very skillfully done. She is truly a master of her craft.

Heck, any type of character she plays she does an amazing job!

This movie is quite disturbing indeed, and although Helene is great in it, the entire storyline wasn't my cup of tea. Moreover I don't know who decided to cast Ed Begley Jr and have Helene doing a "sex scene" with him, it's very subtle and you don't see much but it feels so wrong for him to play her "lover" even if it's just one small scene. The guy could play her father for crying out loud!! Big mistake on the casting part imo for this one.
One guest role I really liked her in was 3 episodes in ReGenesis (I think they are the first 3 episodes of season 2, I didn't watch that show but I was able to see these specific episodes and she was terrific in them.) Durham County, I can't comment as I've never watched any episodes and probably never will (too dark and grim for me.)

I also watched this after Lea gave us the youtube scoop, and tweeted both Helene and Ed Begley Jr with a comment of how it was rather creepy. She never responded but Ed did, saying 'I agree' hahaha.

Helene's character kinda totally went nuts, so her affair with Ed's character made sense in a weird way.

Actually it's not the affair that I'm partial about (because it fits with the storyline and the unraveling of her character), it's specifically the casting of Ed Begley Jr, I think another actor (even 10/15 years or so older than Helene) should have been cast in this role; Ed Begley Jr I just didn't see it at the time and I still can't see it now, as Oigirl put it above, it's creepy to look at :/

It is a bit uncomfortable, but so is everything else in the movie.
