Until earlier this year I was completely unaware of The Murdoch Mysteries/The Artful Detective. Now I ma Hooked with a Capital-H!
The problem is, at least in Colorado, there are NO Maureen Jennings books to be found in the libraries or bookstores! And as an aspiring writer (4 short stories published, one aviation history article publish and some steampunk, alternate history and hard sci-fi projects in the works) I want to try my hand at a Murdoch story. Now I know that there was one involving an "mystery airship" but I have a much better story using "mystery airships", terrorism from the sky and other ideas gleaned from several books on the Mystery Airships Sightings of the 1890s, plus my extensive background about the early years of aviation development.
Therefore, I should like some advice such as some advice of the canonical aspects of Murdoch; how far out can I go and still be within the canon, etc
If Maureen or anyone has ever written a "bible" about the do's and don'ts of the series, I would appreciate a copy.
Now before anyone things that I just plan to willy-nilly start writing stories, I do intend to plan research into the time-period, character backstories, existing stories and TV episodes, etc. the I will submit short stories of story concepts to see if they are acceptable to the experts.
So, I must watch more of the series and I plan to buy the complete Murdoch Murder Mystery Series off Amazon (as soon as my wife calms down from me spending $89 for virus protection software).
Cheers and I am looking forward to a fruitful relationship.

p.s.
Just so everyone is aware, most of my stories/concepts will have an obvious aviation and space theme. Its just what I know most about.
