A bit after Murdoch's time, but significant. On this day in 1929, the Privy Council declared women were "persons": Wasn't this after women had the vote in Canada? Yowza! Of course, it's an improvement to the Council of Macon where women were declared human by one vote.

Of course, it's an improvement to the Council of Macon where women were declared human by one vote. Yup (that is white women....racism was alive and well.....)....however, while women could vote and run for the House of Commons (our old friend Agnes Macphail), they could not be appointed to the other House in Parliament, the Senate. Our Senators are appointed by the Prime Minister and the Senate is considered the House of Sober Second Thought (insert snort of derision here).
