Hello, everyone:
I'm from waaay south of the border (Florida). I watch "The Artful Detective" on Ovation after you lucky Canadians have it and am eagerly waiting for Season 9 (January 23). In fact, Ovation will be running episodes that day from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. EST with the beginning of Season 9 at 7:00.
My favorite character is George, although I did start out with William. I wouldn't throw either of them out of bed for eating crackers . Although William is complex I think now that he's married he'll settle down a little.
Geo (as I call him) seems to be a little more complex especially in relationships with women. I realize that this all takes place 100-plus years ago and manners were quite different. I hope that he'll find at least a woman friend that he could treat like a sister and would give him some better advice than the Inspector. I also have watched his evolution and enjoy his "outsmarting" William when he asks Geo to do something.
My library carries all seven of the Murdoch books and I tore through all of them. They're quite dark and William is far more complex than on the show.
I also love, love, love the women's fashions back them, especially the blouses. Those were popular back in the 1970s (at least in the States). How the men made it through the summer in their heavy clothing and with no air conditioning is beyond me. Of course you don't miss what you don't have.
My one concern is that the main characters are too "pretty". The Inspector comes close to being a little less pretty.
That's my story and I'm sticking with it!
