I've been thinking about this and I've decided that if we're getting a S11, and I very much hope we do, the writers need to be locked in a room to watch the show from the beginning to see what made the earlier seasons great and to see how it has changed. I agree, it's not as compelling as it once was. When I saw my first episode I was completely hooked. It's the only show that's happened and if I was new to the current season I don't think I would be hooked now. I'm not going to stop watching, it's still the best show on TV, but that's not saying as much as it once did. My money is on a season 11, for a multitude of reasons. I think the show will know in advance if its their last season, and I think the last season will be quite the deal. Just my .02. Plus this is the most popular non-news programme on the CBC, so if the creative talent is willing to keep going, I can't see the CBC not wanting to......
Cheers

I wonder if Brackenreid is getting tired of being the inspector :( I really miss seeing him around. It reminds me when Julia was missing for almost half the episodes in season seven...or was it eight? Maybe season six? My memory is awful.
I do get a lil disappointed when one of the "big four" skips out on an episode. Their interaction when solving mysteries is why I began watching this show from the first episode Power.
I did enjoy the murder mystery. I didn't guess the murderer because I had no clue nose jobs were possible back then. That was an interesting tidbit. Same with the tape worms. Yiii.

Sorry you are not enjoying the show as much, I get it but we have no intention of going backward when our audience has gotten bigger every season since #5. After 10 years everyone gets bored of a show, that doesn't mean the quality has gone down. It just means that maybe the show has run it's course for you.

I don't think you have to go backwards to include some of the things we miss and I don't see why you think including them would take the show backwards. Is a little more edginess and a semblance of marriage/old fashioned romance really going backwards? I think it's including some of what made the show great in the first place.
The show hasn't yet run it's course for me, I still enjoy the individual episodes and I will continue watching. I may as well get rid of the TV if I stop watching MM, I don't watch much else. I do really appreciate that some of this seasons episodes are a little more risque and getting away from that "family friendly" label that so many people put on the show. I think it's possible to have a show that appeals to a more adult audience and yet have things go over other's/children's heads and the earlier seasons seem to do that. Perhaps that's what I'm looking for.
I suspect the problem for some of us on this forum is we are uber fans and we have a hard time when we don't enjoy every episode as much.

Everything has to evolve, one way or another. We're all agreeing that the formula has been altered and we are having a hard time adjusting. The truth is, we would be getting bored if it was the same old, same old IMO. Everyone involved in the show has a vested interest in keeping up the quality of production, (on practically the same budget for all 10 years!). We are all afraid that it's looking like another season 8 where there was such a disconnect between W and J, the marginalization of all the female characters for the suffragist arc and too many B characters getting story lines. I'll agree that other than GBF 1 & 2 there really hasn't been an arc that ties everything together. I'm hoping that changes because a series of stand-alone episodes, even good, entertaining ones still falls flat as a season for me.
I also take issue when the first comment people make (mostly on FB) is who is missing from an ep. This is Murdoch Mysteries ergo the ONLY character that has to be in every episode is Murdoch himself! Where is it written that the whole ensemble has to be written into every one? I get SERIOUSLY pissed about that. After 10 years, the main cast need some leeway. Jonny has another show that has him travelling across the country. Thomas has 2 young teenagers in the UK who might just need their dad around more. Two of Yannick's girls are in the US. It goes on and on. Cut the writers some slack people (on FB)! Rant over.

I agree with this, everything DOES have to evolve and MM has always evolved and with the exception of S8 still maintained that MM "feel". This season doesn't feel much like MM. I also agree that all the characters don't have to be in every episode, perhaps with the exception of Murdoch himself, it is MURDOCH Mysteries after all. To be honest I didn't miss either Brackenreid or George, I suddenly realized the show had ended and I hadn't seen them. They weren't important to the story line and just as Julia has been missing from some episodes in previous seasons so other characters can be missing in this.

I don't mind this seasons episodes tbh. While it feels strange to not have Brackenreid in some episodes, the stories are still interesting enough to work past that. Jonny has only missed one episode in the entire run of MM, so we can't complain about that. Yes, Brackenreid has so far missed 3 this season, but the actor may have needed the time off.

This episode has been my favorite so far this season! Enjoyed every bit of it! Hopefully we can have more like this for our remaining episodes. I would agree that it has felt like it has lost something. Everyone has already commented what I would have so I'll just second all the parts of that discussion

Alright *crackes knuckles* Lets do this!
There were some real great lines in this episode - I think my favourite was Murdoch's line about the alarm clock and Eaton's to George right near the beginning.
George I feel was a little overprotective and maybe a tad controlling of Nina in this episode. But hey I still like her as a character - now all she needs to do is discover a body!
OH I almost forgot. I want to see more Oscar. We better have more Oscar this season!
Episode to me seemed fine without Brax - still missed seeing him though.

I want to see more Oscar. We better have more Oscar this season! Yes, please!!! I loved him! I haven't seen many S10 episodes yet, and I've probably missed a lot of S9, so I was nearly spitting my coffee out when I saw George sharing a bed with the exotic dancer girl How bold! LOL
