Yannick Speaks at Sanderson Centre, Brantford, ON

Is this the event where YB said he smoked weed when he was 15?  I read SB's post about a fan who went ballistic, called YB a bad father, among other things, and returned ALL of her photos and mementos.  

I would love to have been at the event.  Can you tell us more about it?

The event was held in the auditorium as they ended up releasing more tickets because of the demand. They had chairs and a table set up in front of the curtain and the "interviewer" asked questions for a while then there was an intermission (couldn't figure out why). They came back out and more questions were asked then the floor was opened up for audience questions. At the end the interviewer said Yannick would do a meet and greet for 10 minutes (with 250 people all wanting a piece of that). Yannick stayed for much longer than 10 mins but still couldn't get to everyone as he had to drive home and had an early call the next day. Basically Yannick was thrown under the bus. The staff at the theatre were woefully ignorant of the fervour of the fans and crowd control was none existant but I don't blame the staff themselves.

Some of what he said in the interview is in the Unlocking Murdoch video however he went into more detail on most things. Can't remember much of it now but there are others on the board that may. The thing that got the "ex-fan" upset was he smoked "weed" when he was 15. He was living on his own and admitted he'd done some stupid stuff. Yannick also said he later asked his dad why he let him do all the stupid stuff and he asked if he would have stopped if he'd said anything. He did explain the situation if I remember rightly but apparently you're not allowed to mistakes in your teens because that automatically makes you a bad person and not fit to have kids.

Did anyone else have a negative reaction to his comments?  I certainly hope there was only one "perfect" person in attendance.  As you know there is ample proof that YB is a kind and caring person, a great husband, and a wonderful father.  I shudder to think of the stunts I pulled at that age, and  I wasn't living on my own.  I read Mrs. Bisson's response to the nut-case, and thought she had every right to pillory this person.

I don't recall anyone else having negative comments. I don't even think anyone else was too upset that they didn't get to meet Yannick. We didn't get to see him but we knew when we got in the queue we would be very lucky to make it to the front.
