While I agree that there may have been mild hints there all along as far as the controlling behavior, it was turned up considerably last night. IMO, it went from a 3 to an 11 in a flash. Before, her behavior could have just been construed as getting George to realize his potential and be more ambitious, but she became a total control freak last night who didn't care about his feelings last night. There had also previously been no hints of her insincerity and deceit before last night. As for who she thinks may be more appropriate, I'm thinking other go-getting people who are looking to "better themselves". Comfortable "bureaucrats" like William and Julia aren't ambitious enough for her. Whilst it did ramp up considerably in this ep she showed her true colours when she published the article without consulting George. The article suggested that George was running the garage which he clearly isn't. Then she dismissed his concerns about how it would go down with his superiors. Clearly she doesn't think being a constable is good enough and is pushing him to "do better" for himself regardless of whether he likes his job. She's set her sights on him and is trying to mould him to what she wants regardless of what he wants and the garage article was the beginning.

I enjoyed this episode. I liked the different twists and turns as William began unravelling the case. I was wondering about the father but learning towards the fiance as the culprit. The roller derby was fun, especially Brackenreid getting all the women involved to square off against the Buffalo Queens. Since Rebecca was the one who wanted to race and show the mean girls she was just as good, I was sort of hoping she would have won the race, but that wasn't possible with the injury she experienced in the first race.
I enjoyed the comments on the George/Nina/Miss Cherry triangle. I, too, saw Miss Cherry for what she was, especially when she went snooping through George's stuff and found the book he'd given to Nina. When he tried to keep it from her, she grabbed the book from him. That was not very respectful. If someone wants you to see something, they'll let you see it. Snatching something that doesn't belong to you is rude. Someone mentioned her character going to eleven in this episode and I thought it did, too. While I saw Miss Cherry operating more along the lines of level six, the jump to eleven was a bit much. I expected her to jump to eleven during the engagement or as they grew more serious, which would leave George wondering how he was going to break it off.
I agree, too, Nina and George aren't suitable. Someone mentioned on another thread how George is trying to change her, and I agree. He's doing the same thing (in a more subtle way--probably without even knowing what he's doing) to Nina that Miss Cherry is doing to George. Nina dances at a burlesque club and made it more than clear after they engaged in sex for the first time she's not after marriage. I'd hate to see her change to "fit in" with a conventional lifestyle when it's clear unconventional is what makes her happy.

Good point re Miss Cherry doing to George what George was doing to Nina......I suspect her behaviour got ramped up quickly because there is no intention of having her back next year, so there wasn't time to do a slow progression......

I'd never thought about Miss Cherry and George acting the same way. I'm now wondering if this is supposed to be a lesson to George about his trying to change Nina and they will get together again in S11. Have to grudgingly admit that I'm quite liking that idea given I didn't like Nina until this episode. On the other hand if Nina is the reason William is accused of murder she may be persona non grata in future. Hmm, wonder if Nina is the person he's supposed to have murdered as it seems odd she's been brought back at the end of the season, just in time for the wild ride. Here I go speculating again when I hate speculation!

"Whyyyyyyyyyy?" Oh, I knew it was coming, especially in a skating episode, but it was still funny. Yes, the Buffalo Queens (and fiancé) were the folks you love to hate, which was fun. Julia and Rebecca as badasses were fun too, all in all, I liked the episode, it was fun. However, the real question in this episode is when did Louise Cherry become a two-faced control freak? I was stunned to see that reversal, and I wonder why so sudden with this twist? Poor George, he's being pressured to marry a woman to appease Murdoch and Brax so that they will approve of him. Of course, the woman in question certainly doesn't approve of them. I must say, while I certainly didn't think we'd seen the last of Nina, I didn't think it was going to flame out so quickly with Louise. I'm guessing she must be the dancer of next week's episode, but I suppose she could be a friend of Nina's as well. Thankfully, I live alone, or the laughter I burst into during that scene would have been difficult to explain! Not sure exactly WHY George needs a love interest, but if he has to have one, I don't thinks it's Miss Cherry! An interesting twist would be to bring Edna back AFTER George and Louise " set up house" The Nina angle should be finished, but you can't get rid of the character outright! She is related to George's business partner, after all!

I'm pretty sure Brackenreid figured out what the Queen's were doing rather early on in the episode.
I loved how Julia and her gang really handed it to the Buffalo Queens though. Two can play at that game!
I loved Julia and Rebecca this episode! BONDING.
Didn't really see the murderer coming. I was pretty sure it was one of the Buffalo Queens, so nice twist on that part.
My mom and I cracked up at the tea-bags!
Felt sorry for George this episode. I fear he will be stuck in this relationship with Louise Cherry because both Brax and Murdoch like the girl. I didn't like George with Nina as she brought out a more controlling side of him. I think my mom nailed it the other night while we were watching - George saw himself as morally superior to Nina. Looking back over the Geoina (??) episodes, this is glaringly obvious now and I wonder why I didn't see it before. XD
Did anyone else notice the similaries with the vitems personal relationships with her family i.e uber controlling mirrored that of Louise and George? i.e Louise's controlling side. Personally I'm okay with Louise not liking the Murdoch's they arn't everyone's cup of tea. But I didn't like it when she said something along the lines of "I look forward to introducing you to more appropriate friends."
I couldn't help but laugh though at his face as they drove away after dinner at the Murdoch's.

I couldn't help but laugh though at his face as they drove away after dinner at the Murdoch's. As for George and Nina, I've seen "Gina". I also get not everyone liking the Murdoch's as well, but George does. He admires W and she's running roughshod over what he wants. What also struck me is that she mocked them for discussing topics she brought up and encouraged. That's rather disingenuous and deceitful. I agree that George is trying to change Nina too much which is why I don't think she'll be his forever girl, but he is having fun with her, which is okay. I suspect that George is trying to find a woman like Julia, independent and career minded and respectable in the streets while being a woman of scandal in the sheets. He's got the respectable woman with Louise, and the scandalous woman with Nina. Here's to hoping that he soon "gets him a girl that can do both."

Totally loved Hot wheels of thunder. Julia was absolute Kickarse...go Julia. Helene Joy is a such a talent and so versatile....... George's love life is plain boring.None of the women he picks are anywhere near as compatable with George as Emily was. Bring back Jilliam....it is sadly missing..... MM is still a great show and hopefully they will give us some of George's oneliners. Those of us that like the Jilliam moments and Georges sense of humour have been deprived of that this season...I hope the writers bring it back.No reason why it can't be done. The actors have a say in what happens as well. Perhaps they have their reasons for the lack of the things that attracted thier very loyal and large audience...Back to basics is much needed...

Is it just me? I thought this was a lousy episode. In fact many of the Season 10 episodes are downers as far as I am concerned. Very little depth. Far too much interviewing of potential suspects and not enough action. Also, I don't like how they have resorted to so many scenes in the dark.

Glad to say I watched Hell to Pay and think it's one of the best episodes of the series, to be complemented by Up From Ashes which I haven't seen yet. I'll miss Augustus Jackson. Too bad most of this episode was also in the dark at night though.
