I loved Henry as Jacob Edwards James, and he was doing brilliantly - it was hilarious when he received the phone call to tone it down and get to the point.. However, in some other episodes, it seems like he's almost another person, having such dumb moments that you'd hardly expect him to be capable of pretending to be "Jacob Edwards James"..

However, in some other episodes, it seems like he's almost another person, having such dumb moments that you'd hardly expect him to be capable of pretending to be "Jacob Edwards James".. In the earlier seasons Henry was a young, inexperienced constable but he had moments when he'd say the most down to earth things putting everything into perspective. In later seasons he's been anything from a competent policeman to a buffoon. I really don't think the writers know what to do with him which is a shame because I don't like what they've done recently. I was hoping for redemption this season after he thought he'd started the great fire but it seems that's not happening.

I think part of the issue is that Higgins has never really been regarded as part of the principal cast and he gets changed to suit what the writers need for a specific episode.....so he goes from buffoon to womanizer who's hiding his insecurities, to George's sidekick, to standard constable showing promise, etc, etc......
