Sneak Peak:
Looks like this episode will have shades of early Murdoch, making more of the religious differences in Toronto.

I wonder if Violet has had a child who died, that could explain some things.
I'm glad to hear Higgins say he'll still work even after marrying Ruth, I was worried they'd axe his character. That would be a mistake.
Those the show seriously expect us to just forget how George was engaged to Edna and has always been a romantic who wants marriage and kids? They continuously show us how ill-suited George/Nina are and yet they continue to drag out their relationship. The only recurring character who is currently entertaining is Ruth. Violet may prove to be if her story turns out to be interesting, but the others are a bore.

"Never bloody digs"
Best.Muttered.Lines.Ever.
Not as edgy as I was expecting. TBH Murdoch kept on dodging Watt's science/faith question. Also kept on getting the Father's confused - and anyway I kept on looking for the Father who married Jilliam and got irked when he wasn't there.
Not sure about Miss Hart. Considering we've only see her a few times anything really goes. Julia could also be overreacting/emotional right now because her hormones are all over the place and she's not used to it.
Murder wise didn't really see it coming - as I mentioned I kept on getting all the priests confused. Knew right away that the housekeeper didn't fall but was pushed. Kind of surprised no one saw the murderer dragging her across to the tower. (as the flashback looked like daytime)
Also totally here for Higgins/Ruth! Those two are well suited to one another (at least in my opinion) Hoping we have a Hewsome? wedding at the end of the season - glad he will be continuing at SH4 hopefully his new wealth doesn't make him to snotty.
Jilliam baby perhaps beginning of next season? Mom had an interesting theory last night - perhaps Julia's carrying twins because of the whole fertility treatment thing. I'm kind of hoping Margaret finds out next week - somehow...
Anyway other than those few rather nit-picky things enjoyed the episode -

I enjoy when MM delves into religion. This was a great episode. I also kept mixing up the priests. My fave, of course, was Higgins/Ruth sub-plot. I'm glad they're getting married. I adore these two. Hints at Violet's past was intriguing. I hope they explore it more before the end of the season.

The priests looked too much alike that it caused some confusion in my household! As with most of the series, I wish they had done more with the religious angle. They touched upon it with the protest at the church ("Papists!") but they've never really gotten into the history of the Protestant/Catholic divide in Toronto at that time. Am I the only one who feels they're setting up Ms. Hart as some kind of stalker? The scene with Julia was vaguely ominous, but the scene with William even more so, and the end scene really made me wonder. (The music also added to the feeling.) I'll go out on a limb and give my prediction- she ends up having a darker past than we thought, she develops an attraction to William (not him specifically as a man, just what she thinks he represents- loving husband, engaging father, respected detective), this puts Julia's life in peril, William has to move heaven and earth to save his wife and child, Ms. Hart comes to a ghastly end. Oh, wait, is this the Eva Pearce story? I hope they're not treading over that old ground again, particularly with the only POC on the show. I did like Julia's barely concealed raised eyebrow in the church. Would have liked to have had a deeper conversation between Julia and Watts, or Julia and William on the nature of miracles and faith, one where she wasn't holding in her nausea! The "he doesn't dig" was perfect. I'm liking Brackenreid a lot this season. A bit too much of Higgins and Ruth. Honestly, I find it hard to care about their story. Higgins is fine on his own, in small doses, but I've no interest in the Newsomes. Really loving Megan Follows direction this season. She has a wonderful eye for shadow that really polishes the episodes.

I also found the two priests to look too similar and I couldn't figure out who was who. And as far as Nina and George, I don't like them together at all but would they have yet another woman break George's heart? I actually found him quite annoying this episode and liked Henry more, something that rarely happens. Having said all that, I really enjoyed the episode. I think Ruth has brought a lot to the show and I'm enjoying the extra time Higgins is getting because of her.

I desperately hope not but i wouldn't be too surprised to see them bring the Single White female trope back again even if that means kicking off the only poc on the show and bringing in yet another protege for Julia. I just realized it but i'm tired of Julia being kidnapped. We've seen it so many times and it's gotten too old but now with a pregnant Julia it really ups the stakes for William to go on a manhunt. I really wished they weren't leaning into the trope and left Ms. Hart as a nice contrast to Julia's sentimental approach. Emily was fairly objective and cold around the autopsies and death before she started following Julia's ways but she even then she still approached things with a scientific curiosity. Ms. Hart could simply be someone who's seen a lot of violence and death and become desensitized and very objective whereas Julia still has her upper class sensibilities.

I still don't like how he shames her for her job and can't separate her work life from home life The jealously isn't cute. This episode he was just boastful and pretentious and in no way would "family man" George be okay with the future Nina was presenting. I think the Nina actress was miscast or the story direction was poorly planned because I don't care about their storyline at all and I should.

have just seen this episode in Australia as we are a bit behind. Getting used to the beautiful, romantic Jilliam moments. The writers seem to be spreading a lot oflove around lately. We have julia absultely glowing, William looking look a lovesick puppy at times and George, Nina, Henry and Ruth all coasting along nicely...Way too good to be true. I hope we are not being set of for a big fall. Surely not..... Violet reminds me of Watts when he came along as an unknown entity. Her character seems to be very deep and no doubt will develop into something sinister but I doubt that it would involve stalking as that the writers have been there, done that just to keep us going. The storyline had a geat twist. Julia plays the pregnant part so well. She is absolutely glowing. Hope she does have twins......but this is MM and anything can happen ad usually does.
