I'm going to jump in on this, particularly on the subject of slash fanfic. I've read slash in the past particularly with Forever Knight. There was so obviously an opportunity to ship Nick and Lacroix that anyone that didn't see it was deliberately looking away. However in MM I just don't see it and it's not like I haven't tried. Someone did make a William/Pendrick video that I suspect was supposed to be slash but try as they may it didn't come off. This is why there is no slash fic, it's impossible to pair any of the guys and the one female pair has already been done. I'm not sure I could ever see Julia in a same sex relationship, it's just not there and she likes her sex too much! Yeah there just really isn't much opportunity for it on the show. You do have George & Henry which I'm honestly really surprised there aren't more people that ship them. I just can't ship the comic relief. Need angst in my ships. This was probably why I was never on board with Gemily either. Gedna was working out a little better since George was less of a comic sidekick in Season 8, but I then missed George as the comic sidekick! Jonny did an outstanding job in stepping up to the "serious" version of George in the last few episodes, though. The transition seemed natural, and not out of character at all.

Let me know if anything comes of Frilliam. (Going to have to go back and watch those eps now to see if I can see any sparks there). Have to go back and watch those episodes. Maybe William wasn't exactly a monk while he was missing Julia, lol.

Let me know if anything comes of Frilliam. (Going to have to go back and watch those eps now to see if I can see any sparks there). Hey don't forget the person that wrote the Gillies & William fanfic, there's totally two of us! Mostly the idea of Dr. Francis & William together is just funny to me, but they fit a certain stereotype. They hate each other and are constantly fighting, but it's only to hide their true feelings. One day during an argument they'll give in and start making out. (LOL I CAN'T CONTINUE. It's too weird and I'm actually laughing out loud.) Now that you mentioned it, I can sort of see it, too - and perhaps it is susceptibility to stereotypes. I almost wonder that's what the MM writers were hoping for since Dr. Francis was good-looking and underground slash fandoms can accumulate quickly. Let's see: William and Dr. Francis get off to a bad start. But since both are intelligent and interesting, William's attempt to smooth things over (ordered by Brackenreid) goes well. Dr. Francis is stuck in a bad marriage, and he has experience in England from being a hanger on in Oscar Wilde type circles. Soon he and William have a fling, where he comforts William for his loss of Julia. But William is conflicted because of his religion, soon they end up having a fight - hence the later heightened conflict at work. And later William can scoff at Brackenreid's virgin lectures. True story, yes? Ps. I'm in denial about William/Gillies. That's just too sick!

I should have said how could anyone ship them?

Maybe he doesn't actually have a cousin and Brackenreid is keeping his secret!
