Original air date - 17th February 2009
Det. Murdoch and Dr. Ogden attend the Dinasour Ball and put their new dancing skills to the test. Barkely Blake, the host, is about to reveal his latest finds from the fields of Alberta when a religious fanatic interrupts the proceedings but when the dinasour is shown there is a body in its jaws. Dr. Ogden believes that DeWitt was shot but using a new photographic device that takes special pictures with x-rays, they are unable to locate a bullet. There is no shortage of suspects including, Professor Rudolph Sutton, one of Blake's rivals.

"Those religious types terrify me the most - so irrational!" - hahahaha
Julia looks terrific in her blue ball dress. Love the continuity with the Dinosaur Ball tickets from Snakes and Ladders.
Another great MM that explores the struggles of professional women.
Trivia! Brackenreid brings up the Loch Ness monster!
William is so cute with his dinosaur-hunting hobby.
Is that a camouflage pattern on William's tie?

I have to admit, I adore Prof. Rudolph Sutton. He has such wonderfully snarky lines.
"No, I adore the way people confuse scientific rigor with nice teeth."

Another day of an ep til season 9!
1. That victims head is so clean for being shot in the head. No blood in his hair or anything! edit: well it was a geology pick to the head as they tell you later on. lol.
2. I looooved them using X-Rays for the first time.
3. A horse than can run backwards. That is all.
4. Overall I quite liked the storyline in this episode. It helps that I like dinosaurs so much!
5. Still mad it wasn't Julia in his stachetastic dream of the future.

Still mad it wasn't Julia in his stachetastic dream of the future. I got a kick out of Brackenreid being told that x-rays were safe as he held the plate in front of his crotch ... twice! I think it was supposed to be Julia in the dream. However it was shot in the badlands of Alberta so I'm guessing it would have cost too much to fly both actors out there, or Helene wasn't available to fly out.

Yeah, they were just SO certain it was safe haha. I figured based on William's giant grin we were to assume it was her but still would have been great if we could have seen her!

But that would have given his feelings away too soon. This was still the beginning of the relationship.

2. I looooved them using X-Rays for the first time. I got a kick out of Brackenreid being told that x-rays were safe X-rays were also connected to the revival of spiritualism at the time - they proved an unseen world. This is why MM is a set in a terrific era for forensic mysteries. I hope these fuzzy borders are explored more.

Something that has cropped up in other series set in hospitals of a similar period is the horrible burns suffered by early doctors and scientists experimenting with x-rays......some lost their hands as a result.....

I saw a programme recently that said they used to test the machine on their hands. Many of them lost fingers etc.

I can now identify the waltz music at the beginning of this episode (and, if I remember correctly, it was also used during one of the dance lessons in the previous episode). It's from the Coppelia Ballet Suite, by Leo Delibes. Heard part of it on the radio this afternoon driving home from work. *grin*

Does anyone know where they got the T Rex fossil? Did the show make it or was it on loan? (I'm leaning toward "on loan" if I had to guess, but I don't know)
