Has anyone here been checking out their message board? It seems like some people there have some very different feelings about the show than we do here. WDYT? uktv.co.uk/alibi/thread/threadID/38866/

Yeah I am on there quite often... It was me who asked about Julia marrying someone called Rafe I wondered if that was the same Lucy! I wondered about that, too! Maybe they got an early press release and the name was changed? Who knows. Yeah, I'm surprised by how much anti-William and Julia sentiment there is. I'm also surprised by how much love there was for Dr. Francis. I guess maybe the Brits will be more favorable to him. I wonder what the Canadian response will be to Dr. Francis. Somehow I'm guessing they won't love him as much. It's odd to me that people think that William and Julia were being unethical but not Francis. I feel like Francis obstructed cases a lot. And wouldn't the coroner be beholden to the police station/cases? Why would William need Francis' permission moreso than vice versa? It is strange how there is no ability to quote and there are no topics, just a running board of comments. But it quite busy.

It's annoying too how if you get an email with a new message on there and then click the link and there is no new messages!! Yep it's me ... I do/did like Dr Francis because of his dry wit. I do believe that our comedy doesn't do very well over in the US and Canada because we are not understood? Or maybe just not funny! lol

We like some British humor. I love Are You Being Served and Keeping Up Appearances. And some here love Ab Fab (though I'm not one). I do think Dr. Francis was funny but he was still annoying, too. I laughed at his sarcasm but I still found him a hindrance to the cases. And that was interesting conflict with Murdoch but I wanted to know why Francis was so resistant. I guess he was just angry to be in Canada and working with people he thought of as inferior. That was also somewhat funny, somewhat irritating. He thought he was so much better yet he was the one overlooking things and failing to probe deeply enough to get at the heart of the case like Julia would have.

I really liked Dr Francis and would have liked him to have stayed for a few more episodes. Not because I don't want Julia in it, but because I thought it was good to have another character for W to have conflict with and develop a relationship with. I thought he was interesting too, because of how anti Canadian he was (but had married one!) and just how he was so negative about everything - there was definitely more to discover about him.

I remember why I came here now (getting forgetful... ) One person who occasionally posts on the Alibi message board is Iden, who is Maureen Jennings husband. He has written some interesting things about Maureen and her work. Just recently he said that so far she has not have a to write a script for the TV series, but they are hopeful this may change for S5. He seems quite positive about plans for S5 which is great. I am also interested in what he wrote about Maureen’s new book series, A Season of Darkness. Apparently she was inspired by Thomas Craig, the actor who plays Brackenreid, for her new main character, Tom Tyler.

Yes, I found those things interesting, too, susie. I haven't read the books but I am curious about them. I hope Maureen will write an episode and I'm glad there will be a S5. Hey did anyone else notice that the killer in the Prince and the Rebel's name was David Jennings, like Maureen's last name? It's a pretty common name but I'm sure that wasn't just a coincidence.
