I've been going over some of this too and I've come to the conclusion that they're not keeping track of everything they've written previously about characters other than William. They mustn't keep a bible with regard to the characters but Mr. B seems to be the worst. Case in point Brackenreid's middle name, he's been Thomas S., Thomas C. and even Thomas Charles. Not sure a true timeline can be created where he's concerned. Perhaps he has more than one middle name. Thomas S. Charles Brackenreid. It would be strange if they didn't keep a bible - they are so detailed on everything else. Maybe they gave Brackenreid one middle name, and then they had to backtrack when Maureen Jennings gave him a different middle name in her books....?

I suspect different writers perhaps don't take as much care to see what's been used before. I can't think of any other reason two different initials have been used. I'm surprised the actors don't pick up on these things.

But in earlier seasons, when there were only 13 eps per seasons and big breaks in between, I guess it was possible to forget a lot while people were working on other projects. I like the sound of Thomas. S. Brackenreid better.

I think the fault here is with the writers. They haven't been consistent with the timeline. Just go with your own thing. It makes the most sense. Can't wait to see what the writers set down in the "geeky guidebook". That will become canon, and I guess any inconsistency in the TV show will go off into some parallel universe? Anyone remember when the DC Comics did the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" series to fix all blatant inconsistencies by reconciling the myriad "alternate timelines"? Too bad the MM writers can't just posit a few alternate Earths here!

Peter Mitchell only started around S5 and most of the inconsistencies happened before then. So they probably have got something assembled now. But I doubt they had anything before then. I dropped a message to @cbcmurdoch on twitter asking who would be best to contact regarding dates. Hopefully they will get back to me.

Apparently on FB there was a suggestion that it "might" happen, and they asked for suggestions. I've been putting all my suggestions in the Geeky Guidebook thread on the presumption that they actually read that, and the longer ones (where I compared the original "Geeky Guidebook" were ferried over to the FB thread itself. I'm hoping they will do stuff like map out William's lab table. and uncover the evil cabal of Bird Watchers
