-Born in the 1850s (I'm guessing) in Yorkshire, England. -Brash man who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. -Hates the French with a passion. -Has very colourful turns of phrases such as, "Bloody hell, sunshine, bugalugs and me old mucker." -Was in the Afghan war for several years. While he was still stationed somewhere in England, Jack the Ripper had his reign of terror. Wanting to get away from all of that, and after serving his time in the army, he crosses the sea to Canada where he meets Margaret. Gets married soon after and has his first son, Bobby(?) in 1890 (I'm guessing). John(?) follows a year or two later. -Margaret's father offered him a career in plumbing but he decided to become a constable instead. -Became Inspector after convicting the gangster Walter Iote. -Loved the theatre at an early age and played clown number two(?) in a production of something Shakespearean (or I might just be making this part up completely). -Frequently goes to plays and operas without his wife as she doesn't like those sorts of things, preferring comedy troupes or Vaudeville. -Has a thing for celebrities and keeps an autograph book that would be worth a fortune today. -Is a heavy drinker but is not physically abusive (to people he cares for). Has dabbled in other drugs such as cocaine and heroin. The latter makes him really sleepy. -Ran for mayor but dropped out at the last instant -Declined an offer to become Chief Constable in Ottawa -Decided against joining the Boer War, choosing his family instead -Was beaten to within an inch of his life in 1902 by the dock worker brothers Mick and Tim O'shea. Had PTSD for awhile after that and took up painting and watering plants. Eventually came back to his piss and vinegar self.

I'm sooo confused about Brax's life before Toronto. What I have written above would seem to contradict what was said in The Murdoch Appreciation Society. If he was still in the military towards the tail end of 1890, then he couldn't have been an inspector in Toronto in 1890! Something's messed up here and it's driving me insane!

And that was me yesterday afternoon. I spent hours HOURS HOURS getting worked up over this, and the result? It basically comes down to what would be considered fixed points or not. 1895-start year of the show = fixed. Brackenried states in "Glass Ceiling" that the Walter Iote case happened five years ago So 1890. This is the case that got him a promotion. This date works with the 12 year remark in 'Murdoch Appreciation Society'. This date also works around other pre-TV events, such as Murdoch's promotion and Malcolm Lambs insubordination. So fixed. But in order for this to work we have to completly disregard his remark made in "Snakes and Ladders" about where he was during the ‘Ripper Murders of 1888 as he said he was “still with the regiment garrison near Whitechapel”. This would mean that he is still in the army as of 1888, and it would be inconceivable in two years for him to be able to reach the Inspector position in the Canadian Constabulary. In order for him to reach the Inspector position in 1890-I have him leaving the Army at the end of the Second Anglo-Afgan War and joining the Police force, reaching the rank of Detective. From which in 1888 after the ‘Ripper Murders he transfers to the Canadian Constabulary. It is here in Canada that he meets his wife Margaret, with whom he has two sons John “Johnny” and Robert “Bobby”. So far this is the only major inconstancy that I have encounter. I am getting putting together as special page that comes with the Timeline that has all the speculative dates, and inconsistencies listed. And in reading all that back over I don't think, I helped at all.

And in reading all that back over I don't think, I helped at all. In Rich Boy Poor Boy, Margaret says and I quote, "Thomas had just come out of the army when father asked him to join the family's plumbing business....but his heart was set on the police force." So if he was in the army until say 1880 (end of the second afghan war) then it would mean he met Margaret in England? But they didn't have kids till like 1890? And Margaret's sister lives in Toronto... I think the fault here is with the writers. They haven't been consistent with the timeline. Just go with your own thing. It makes the most sense.

I've been going over some of this too and I've come to the conclusion that they're not keeping track of everything they've written previously about characters other than William. They mustn't keep a bible with regard to the characters but Mr. B seems to be the worst. Case in point Brackenreid's middle name, he's been Thomas S., Thomas C. and even Thomas Charles. Not sure a true timeline can be created where he's concerned.

Lol in my fic, I had him still in the army when he came to Canada in 1889. He was in the army since 1884 and not in any Afghan thing...but I think I wrote this before Brax ever said that in S6...but I do believe he also said it in S2 when he was talking to the serial killer, so I really have no excuse for messing that up. Anyway, my fic is useless to you. That was my point.

Maybe you do have psychic powers and just didn't realize you were using them to gather timeline information~
