I'm amazed no one has responded on this one - its such a hot topic!
I do like them together as a couple, they are similar in their intellect and share lots of interests. The fantasy sequences we saw earlier in the show, when William imagined kissing Julia, were lovely insights into his head and his character.
I found it very interesting that he was only able to act on his feelings when he'd had a drink (in the Green Muse) - did he need something to give him confidence, when he is very confident in most other areas of his life. It makes me wonder how he got together with Eliza (was that her name?) his first love who died.

Even though i wanted them to be together because of how happy she made him it didn't seem like they were going to end up together. That probably doesn't sound like much seeing as the seasons over. but early in the third season Julia says she doesn't want kids even though having a family is very important to Murdoch. then she starts being tempted by other people throughout the season, as does Murdoch with Sally (but it's not the same thing cuz she was married), then she starts keeping secrets. not to mention the fact that he's always been very spiritual but she's always kind of laughed at religion. they might have been happy for a while if they had gotten married but eventually her restlessness and ambition would have made her miserable. in response to the above person, he was probably drunk that time as well.

I'm torn between whether I want them to be together or not.. In my opinion Julia doesn't respect Murdoch's wish to have a family, why she doesn't tell him the truth, I don't know...

i think she only said that because she can't have kids. she probably would like to have a family but just didn't see how.

The interesting thing about Julia is that something about her takes William out of his comfort zone, he wasn't like that with Enid... but Julia's shaprt intellect, her humour taht he is always slow to catch on etc... there are many explanations, but when it comes to Julia, he is completely out of his comfort zone...he seems very slow to catch what's really goin on with her...

I agree on som points here, season 3 has made an effort to prove that despite loving each other deeply, William and JUlia are too different to be happy together as a couple... Her modernity is too much for him to swallow, he is a catholic and conservatie one that is... she is certainly a christian, but she takes religion with a lots grains of salt but she doesn't moke religion, but she willing to push the bible or religion aside when it confliects with her own personal modern views William has a hard time doing that... They were both charmed and tempted by other people Julia was tempted by Mr Wells and William by Sally (it's the same thing, even if Sally was married, being tempted is being tempted!) Their relationships was too childish for that period, there was no boyfriend/girlfreind concept in their time, and it's only when Julia was about to leave that Murdoch thouhght he had ot propose, that is a fery shaky base to build anything solid... Julia never said she didn't wants kids, she says to the inspector's wife that she doesn't see them in her futur, that could be understood as the admission she doesn't want them, but the last episode makes us understand, it's because bilogically she can't have kids due to abortion. anyway i think she should get married to someone else, a man more flamboyant and open to her modern lifestyle and move to Montreal, NY or even Europe or my favourite solution is to kill her off in the final episode of Season4.. so we can explore adarker Murdoch in season 5 and also make room for a new love interest for Wiliam without any love triangle... they already did that with Enid...

No she does respect that wish to the point that she leaves town... U might say she doesn't share that wish, but that also is not true, the last episode of season 3 says, that she is sterille, that is why she thinks kids are not in her future... I just think Julia should get with a man more flamboyant and less stuckup

I'm sure the writers will keep the will they/won't they going for as long as they can - it makes for more entertainment. I tend to agree with your comments adifferentblog, though killing Julia off is a little harsh! And while Julia is very modern, there was that one time in S3, I think it was in Victor/Victorian, when she expected William to jump to her defence, which actually would have been a more traditional thing, and he didn't - so may be she's not quite as modern as she thinks.
I'm looking forward to the next episode when they meet again, and in Buffalo. It will be interesting to see her in a different environment and see how they are together. She's a good character, but i did get a little bored with their relationship in S3 so I hoping absence will make the heart grow fonder for us all.

Yes, I think in Victor/Victorian Julia wanted to know that William agreed with her about women wanting equality. She did want him to defend her to Brackenreid but I think ultimately it was more about her wanting to know that William agreed with her about that subject.

In the middle it wasn't addressed much. It was interesting to me in S3 ep. 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 13. So about half the season had something going on with their relationship. I don't think it was all dull with regard to that. Sally Pendrick/Hubble was as interesting of a rival to me as Enid was in S2.

But there was stuff happening: Ep1: Anna in Bristol and Julia worrying about William, joyful when he returns safe Ep 3: The arguments over women's rights between Julia and William. Julia questions whether William is committed enough to it. Ep 4: The loss of Brackenreid's son causes tension between Julia and William over when they would have children. Ep 6: The beginning of William's concern for and attention to Sally and Julia becomes jealous Ep 7: The prediction that William will have to make a sacrifice for love. Ep 8: H.G. Wells pursuing Julia and she considering whether she's happy with William or if it's something else that is missing from her life. Ep 12: William becomes closer to Sally and Julia considers leaving Toronto if William doesn't give her a reason to stay. Ep 13: A now soon to be widowed Sally pursues William and Julia seriously considers leaving. William decides to propose but not before Julia gets on the train for Buffalo.
