Here is the latest word from Maureen Jennings' husband on S5: "I am at liberty to tell u that the writers are working on season 5 as we speak. And that the dark turn that season four took will have new light shining on season 5. While it is not official yet. There has been a staff of writers hired to begin work on the next season. But we await the official announcement as in Canada this is the first stage. The writers do read your posts. They know how u feel."

YAY!! but is there any word on Helene Joy still being part of the cast? if i remember correctly she's been trying to get off the show since the end of the third season. it would have been better if the producers had just let her leave than teasing us with S4 WJ interactions.

Where did you hear that? I haven't heard anything to that effect but that doesn't mean it's not true. I hope she isn't leaving!

uh to tell the truth i can't remember where i read it. maybe i simply misunderstood/remembered incorrectly what she said. but with the way they ended this season, it seems like she may very well be off the show.

Oh, I don't think so. I'm sure the writers want us to worry that she and William will never get back together but I think they still will. I think Darcy will conclude that William is a criminal for helping Ava escape and forbid Julia from seeing him. It may happen slowly with tension building over episodes but eventually I think this will cause the marriage to fail, with Darcy leaving. I think in the first episode (or maybe the first few) of S5 even Julia will think this of William until she finds out his reason. Once she knows why he did what he did, she will understand and admire him. But I don't have any idea yet what I think will happen with William's career and whether he'll be prosecuted/in jail at the beginning of the next season. But Julia's character is so central to the show, aside from the romance with William, that it would be hard to write her out.

From other interviews with Helene Joy I figure she is very much looking for security in a way and a stable income. So even if she wanted to do more plays, I guess she would still do Murdoch as a way of having a secure income. Acting is hard enough as it is to make a living, so why leave a save role if you have one (and aren't as rich as George Clooney ) As for the s5: I hope there will be one, but I can't see a way out of this mess that doesn't include at least another 7 or 8 episodes of heartache and I am somewhat tired of that after this last season.

But Julia's character is so central to the show, aside from the romance with William, that it would be hard to write her out. Hannikan, Julia is and will always b a major character in MM. Of course , they are going to write her as an opiniated lady all the way through which will create tension between Murdoch and Julia but I think its a good thing. Tension and making out is the best .I have seen it in many shows and it works. What doen't work is when the wirters build up a relationship and drop it like it never exists like Stargate SG1 with O'Neil and Carter. I bought all the DVD's and now I just want to get rid of them , I never watch them because I am not bothered of what they said bewteen each other . At the end we still wonder and I am not interested in that anyway. The writers build the relationship and they should always conclude it in a special way. If they start it and they made us hooked on it, it is their responsability to finish it properly. I havent bought the MM dvd's yet but I will wait until the very end to buy them this time. If they finish what they started, I will buy them but I need a really good ending to do so, A kiss only between Julia and William wont be enough for me I am afraid. I am watching Fringe right and blind me, it is so great. Even if we had the alternate universe and it is very difficult to understand, JJ Abrams is doing a great job for the shippers although I am not even in a Fringe forum, May be I should!!!!He creates angst at the right time and put it back right where it started, its brilliant. I trust him not to go wrong. I loved all of his shows so far: Alias, Lost , Fringe and Alcatraz. the latter one is absolutley brilliant. The suspense music is the same to all his shows though but then I think by doing it that way, you recognize him and how great he is. Hopefully in MM, we will hear that piano music again between Julia and William and I think we all missed it so far. It is part of the show and they should never ever forget about it.

Yeah, well there was some truth the rumors because although Helene Joy didn't leave, she was not available as much. She will only have been in 6 episodes of 13 in S5. So just about half the season only. I hope she will be back full time in S6.

We want her back full time in season 6, that's for sure. MM is not the same without her.

I totally agree. Julia back full time and the original team of 4 in action (W/J/T/G). I also wish that Julia will have more scene with the inspector and George because even if I like (actually LOVE) her scenes with William I think it would be nice to see her interacts more with the others as well
