If you remember in S3, Rich Boy, Poor Boy Mrs. B said that her father wanted Thomas to join his plumbing business and that she thought he'd make a good plumber. That had to be written in as an inside joke because I read this in imdb, "Craig (who plays Brackenreid) was a plumber for six years in his hometown of Sheffield, England before becoming an actor."
