Okay, I tried it and you do not have to be on Facebook or part of the group to see the photos. Sorry, it's not clicky. You'll have to highlight the link and copy and paste it into your browser window.

It's not the final season anymore, gwynhyfer. There will be a season 6, as well. I don't know about a new love interest for William. There seems to be one for George in Julia's new assistant coroner. And Anna will be back, too.

Yeah, you can read them in the thread about possible spoilers though. Alibi did post them somewhere weird. I had trouble finding it. And IMDB has similar summaries for most of the S5 episodes. And those photos I posted from FB are from Alibi. For some reason, they didn't post them on their website yet.

Thank you! Is it weird for anyone else to see them in 'normal' clothes next to each other? I'm so used to see them together as William and Julia, I guess.

Since S5 presumably takes place ca. 1898-1900, I expect that the Second Boer War (1899-1902) might get a mention or two in this season. It was the biggest conflict of the time.
Other major historical events included:
The Boxer Rebellion (1898-1901).
Which included the Battle of Peking* (1900) and the Siege of the Peking Legation Quarter.
22nd January, 1901 - Queen Victoria dies. She reigned for 63 years (1837-1901). She was 81 years old. To date, she is the longest-reigning monarch in British history.
Prince Alfred, the Queen's second son, dies on the 30th of July, 1900. He is only 55. He was one of the most widely-travelled of all the members of the Royal Family. In an era when such a journey would've taken upwards of two or three months, he sailed to Australia...twice! The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, and the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne (where I live), are named in his honour. It's not out of the question that he might have travelled to Canada - he was quite a globetrotter. His older brother Edward (the future Edward VII) travelled to Canada in his youth.
The Paris World's Fair ('The Universal Exposition'), 1900
The Galveston Hurricane that hit Galveston, Texas, destroying much of the city. 1900.
Perhaps of particular interest - The Buffalo World's Fair ('The Pan-American Exposition'), 1901
Years before the Wright Brothers and their historic achievements at Kitty Hawk in 1903, the Germans at the turn of the century are already experimenting with commercial applications for airship technology. The airship becomes the world's first truly commercial, passenger-carrying flying-machine, beating the airplane by years.
*One of the several names of the modern city of 'Beijing', the capital of modern China.

Oooo looks like we might have some interesting stories coming up! Thanks for all that info Murdoch Mysteries is a great way for us to learn more about Canada and other major events from around the world at that time! That's partly why I love it so! Tomorrow! Yay!

Prince Alfred was in the S1 episode The Rebel and the Prince. That was in 1895. He was not 50 in that episode! I guess they took some liberties there. He was clearly young, in his 20's. I think Queen Victoria's death would be covered in S6, since it was in 1901. The S5 finale is New Year's Eve 1899. It will be interesting to see what other events make it into the plots!

Wasn't the Prince Albert from season 1 the grandson of Queen Victoria?

Yes, her grandson but his name was Alfred. It was a great episode. Made me laugh and cry. Thanks!
