Sue Thomas is actually (in a roundabout way) how I discovered Murdoch! I absolutely loved the show, and even though my heartthrob from the series was Bobby Manning (played by Rick Peters), I especially enjoyed Yannick's portrayal of Jack and the chemistry between him and Sue (Deanne Bray). Searching through Yannick's IMDb page, I found out about MM and decided to give it a try. When I first started watching, I often found myself comparing Jack and William. Yannick does such a nice job portraying Murdoch though, that he quickly became his own person...although I do see a little Jack come out now and then. I actually saw a few episodes of Sue Thomas when it first came out on PAX, but I didn't get into it and I didn't recognize Yannick Bisson from it. Sue Thomas was a bit too religious for me, and I couldn't stand all the snide remarks about "liberals": Sue Thomas clearly wanted to appeal to a fundamentalist midwestern audience at the expense of the more liberal urban audience. What really wigs me out is that I also watched High Tide when it came out: Yannick was just getting started then, and I didn't think of him as a particularly good actor. Part of it was probably the silliness of the role: there were also a lot of bad shows of the "beach boy" type around then, too. Anyway, it was a shock to discover this was the same person and Yannick had matured into a good actor. (Apparently I didn't even recognize him on Sue Thomas). I think MM is a higher quality show and a much better vehicle for Yannick, anyway. Even though he has that "cop" look, a period piece is more of a challenge for him.

I am very new to a lot of the sites and boards, but I totally love this site. I like MM primarily for the vintage setting of everything. Some of the homes and interiors are just spectacular! I know there are probably a lot of you that get responses from twitter etc a lot but...My very first twitter that I ever tried was to Yannick on the 8th, and got a personal answer. I asked where he learned to ride a horse so well. He replied GOLD and NOTHING TOO GOOD FOR A COWBOY. I watched his daughter Mikaela's "15 things you don't know about my father". It showed her to be a sweet, crazy, and funny person that comes from a loving and tight family. I sent Yannick a second tweet on the 9th, asking if he screened the "boyfriends" and he replied to me saying... Like Mikaela said, "I can throw an axe". What a wonderful sense of humor. I am a "vintage" person myself, and he surely made me feel special.
