What do you think of Helene Joy as Dr. Ogden?

I think she is marvelous. Rumour has it that Lisa Faulkener is to be Murdoch's new love interest in season 4. I hope Helene has not been written out after she moves away. I think people get used to the same cast, and they are all good.

I think Helene can go out MM only if she want leave it..I don't think writers or producers want she leave the show..she is a great actress and Julia is a too important character for go away..and also I'm sure in an happy ending for Julia and William..we have only to hope to have other seasons of MM!

Her hair color has been the same since S2. The style now is a combo of the braid from S1 and the curly top from S2 and 3.

It always amuses me how Helene was in the Murdoch Mysteries before she was in the main series. She was in one of the pilot movies from 2004 - The Dragon's Tail. She wasn't playing Julia, that part was played by Keeley Hawes at the time. I guess the produders loved her work in it and when the pilots weren't picked up in then they recasted her as Julia when the series was finally picked up four years later. I can't imagine Keeley Hawes playing the part in the main series, Helene made it her own. Though Keeley was quite good as Julia, I just can't see her having the same chemistry with the current cast.

Yeah, I haven't seen the movies but I know the character in the books was quite different. I've only read the first three so I've seen a bit of her in the books. As I understand it, Julia in the TV series is like a combination of Julia in the books and the teacher character, Amy. I can't imagine Julia as anyone but Helene Joy. She does a wonderful job at showing Julia's many facets.

The Julia in the movies is like the Julia in the series, just a different actor.
I have no interest in the books tbh. W/J add to the show/movies for me so without that in the books I wouldn't enjoy them.

The movies are supposed to be direct adaptations of the books actually.

They aren't completely direct adaptions. Julia is not an adaption and she is the Julia of the show. Other than being darker in tone they are like the series. They merely used the storylines from the books, they didn't use everything from what I have heard of the books.

I never knew they'd made Murdoch movies, anyone got a link to them?

I'd heard they were much more like the books so that was what I was basing that on. I have read the first few books. www.imdb.com/title/tt0386955/
