Yes. We have electricity here.
And television too.
We're just getting used to this newfangled 'internet' thing, though.
Amazingly, we have heard of Murdoch Mysteries.
I found out about Murdoch Mysteries last year in 2010. At the time I was indulging in an 'Upstairs, Downstairs' kick, and it was through that, that I heard about this TV show. It was Victorian. It was policey. It was fascinating. It was actiony. And it wasn't American! Oh my god!
The last thing I watched on TV that came out of Canada was the "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" series back in the 1980s and 90s (if you haven't seen that series, I feel sorry for your childhoods, how boring and nonscary they must've been).
That's not to say that I hate Canadian TV. It's just that I was never exposed to it. 90% of the stuff on Australian TV comes from overseas and 90% of that comes from the U.S.A. So when I found out about this thing called Murdoch Mysteries from CANADA...I thought: Wow...I gotta find out about this stuff.
Off I went to the Great and Fantastic Video Library.
AKA: YouTube.
The FIRST episode I watched was "Glass Ceiling" (about how Murdoch and his boys try to solve a murder committed by a guy with a supposedly cast-iron alibi).
I was hooked! I loved it! The clothing, the settings, the technology, the science, the police-work...this stuff was awesome!
I hate so much of the crap on TV these days. It's so boring and repetitive! And the moment one GOOD show comes out, it's immediately followed by a bazillion leeching, sea-lamprey spinoffs that immediately spoils any assets that the original show had.
Murdoch Mysteries was none of this. And thanks be to God, it continues to be none of this. None other than excellent acting, art, creativity, fascination and production. Such a rarity on TV that I swallowed up the entire show. I've watched every single episode thusfar made public.
I was extremely upset when I read about S5 being the last season.
But then I read that they're doing a S6 now! Woohoo!! I can't say how jazzed I am! MM forever!
I'm also a big fan of Sherlock Holmes. So it's not hard to see why I also like MM. I also love history. BIG history buff. I have a history blog, if anyone wants to read it.

I am a huge history-buff. Especially Victorian, Georgian, Edwardian, 1920s, Great Depression, WWI, WWII. Medieval & Early Modern. Absolutely anything. Food. Clothing. Science. Medicine. Technology. Transport. Morals. Warfare. Ships. Firearms & weapons. Manufacturing. Home-life. Music. Entertainment. Whatever you want.
If you want to chat with me about MM or any elements of Victoriana & history, I'm easily contactable on Yahoo Messenger, MSN/WLM Messenger and Skype Messenger. Send me a cable through the P.M. system and I'm happy to chat.
