Having checked out the facebook page I know I won't be spending time there in future . The Julia dislike by Nicky and a few other posters isn't pleasant to read. I have no idea what their problem with her is. Those people don't even seem to want her on the show. Whether they like it or not Julia is a big part of the show as is the W/J romance. Yeah, I wouldn't say they don't want her on the show, they just don't want there to be any romance between her and William. They want theirs to only be a working relationship. They are also fans of Maureen Jenning's Murdoch Mysteries books (many of them having read them before watching the show) in which Julia and William have a working relationship but no romance. They want the TV show to be more like the books, which of course, came first. But I do feel that the TV show is a separate entity and always had a different tone and direction. Some think there was no romance budding in S1 but I think there clearly was. So I think the TV show has been very different from the books from the beginning. I have read about half the books and they are good but they have a much darker tone. Some of the characters are similar but there are even some character traits that are very different.

while i've never read the books, i've heard that julia's character is supposed to be much older than murdoch. so of course, in this respect, it doesn't make much sense for them to be interested in each other. but those are the books. this is an adaptation. Julia in the show is apparently a mixture of the book version and the bohemian school teacher that murdoch ends up with. so i agree with what you've said hannikan. as well, i too think it was obvious that they were interested in each other in the first season. well, it was more on her part than his, initially, but that changed after he got over the death of his fiancee.

My fave episode so far. It was awesome to see the return of James Pendrick. I wish they would have showed the entire race instead of reports of what was happening (LOL @ stopping to buy soup). I liked how desperate James became when he heard he was double-crossed. I knew Murdoch would stop James from killing the son, but it showed what James is capable of if pushed into a corner. Makes me wonder how he'll react if Sally ever returns.
Now that James has lost his fortune I wonder what will become of him. I can see him succeeding at whatever he does next. He's far too ambitious and smart.
I'm missing Julia. No, I'm not a big fan of the J/W romance, but I like her character. But I guess having her own practice doesn't bring her in contact with the station house anymore.

Julia will be back in the next 2 episodes. And she'll be in 2 more after that.

Watching this episode a few months ago and now reading comments from other people who have just seen it I think that James Pendrick must be one of the unluckiest character to have appeared in Murdoch Mysteries. First his marriage to Sally which was a complete sham and now his idea and fortune lost. What I do like about him though is that he always bounces back so we'll see what he has under his sleeve next season Yep Nugget, Hannikan is right, the time has come to have some "Julia dose" again, you have been through the longest wait though and the stories when she appears are great episodes (for me though, I am not being very objective as I like the character and the actress so much that I missed her as well when she wasn't part of an episode!!)

I really miss her too, Barbarama. She is as important to the show as Crabtree, Murdoch, and Brackenreid are. I'm not sure if this is Helene's doing or the writers why she has taken a break. Maybe she's busy with other projects? I should poke around the forum and find out, but I'm scared of running into spoilers LOL. I'm really hoping Helene isn't displeased with her character development why she hasn't been around. Then again she's a great actress. I'm thinking she had other projects happening that clashed with her MM schedule. Please, Helene, don't leave the show or I will be a very sad puppy

P.s. Does anyone have a Pendrick avatar? I did look in the screencaps section but those are big files to download. Unfortunately I'm on dial-up and I can't download big files. Argh, I wish we had high speed out here in the country.

To answer your question about Helene Joy it appeared that she had other commitments and was not available for the all season so I guess the writers did go around her schedule but I am sure you will like the episodes she is in I know I love them and I don't want to give you spoilers but she is definitely in season 6 so hoorrayy ;D!!!
I am totally bias about it but for me helene's acting is outstanding and that what's make the difference. Don't get me wrong the character of Julia is very well written and I love her in the show but lots of time I watch helene and she is not even saying anything and still something happens, in her eyes or through her demeanor she can communicate so much. Ok I will stop rambling now at least she is in next week episode.
Regarding avatars did you try searching in Google with Murdoch mysteries' avatar maybe they have James Pendrick as well!!!

I did try searching google but no luck. It's okay. I'll keep Brackenreid *pats Brackenreid on the head*

Another episode a day! 1. I love when George thought William was mocking him. Those two are so great together. 2. William suggested a PI to Brackenreid. Would he do that for himself? 3. I love the scene between the Inspector & Margaret. Now if only that will happen with William & Julia 4. I have to say I've yet to tire of Pendrick getting accused for murder and it turns out to be someone else. 5. William certainly doesn't have much insight into the future. He always thinks investments that will make people very rich to be a bad idea.
