In 1900 you could get a divorce in Canada on the ground of adultery. Julia has committed adultery with William in the eyes of the law. So Darcy can and no doubt will divorce her for that reason. It will have to be him who initates it, she has no real rights to. But as he was the one who initiated their separation I don't see why he wouldn't want out of a humiliating marriage. It wasn't common at the time but divorces did happen. It just wasn't an simple matter.
Though I still say killing him off is easier. And I wouldn't be surprised if they do just that. Half of me is expecting it. It seems pointless to reunite W/J to then have to spend a season sorting out her divorce. Eitherway, I don't believe it will greatly effect W/J's relationship, only how they can define it publically while she is still married. But considering Julia passionately kissed William in public and vice versa, I don't think either are that bothered by the scandal it is bound to cause. Only the churches view will potentially bother him, though he does seem less restricted by his religion these days.
