Set in 1890s London, this six-part miniseries follows the policemen of H-Division, London Metropolitan Police, in their unending fight against rampant crime and poverty in London's decrepit East End slums.

I saw the first episode. I liked it all right for part of it. But it became too disturbing at the end.

Yes that's why I don't watch many British things except shows like Poirot, Miss Marple, Lewis and Midsomer Murders. They are more for family viewing

I'm in Canada, and Space (our version of Syfy network) ran Ripper Street, so I saw the first episode and loved it! Ended up watching the first 3 series on Netflix, but then they removed it. Now with no cable, and season 4 airing now, with season 5 to be the last, I need to get caught up.

Ripper Street? I'm way late for this but the show sounds interesting. The Brits always have the best TV shows. I don't have Netflix. I wonder if it'll air in Canada. *debates whether to write to CBC and beg them to air it*

I doubt you'd have much luck.

I managed to find the DVDs on amazon. I ordered the first season. Looking forward to this.
